Music for outside wedding

I'm getting married outside under trees by a pond.  Just wondering what people do about the music.  The bride usually walks down the aisle to the bridal March what do you do for an outside wedding

Re: Music for outside wedding

  • A friend of ours played this music on the guitar.  We had a mic and speaker for him.  http://www.acousticwedding.com/

  • You can hire a string quartet to play. They can run a little pricey but it's another option. Most will play just about anything and the music sound beautiful.
  • We're going to have a fiddler playing... I don't think they'll need amplification.

  • we're going to do a guitar like a pp mentioned.
  • We had a string trio for ours.  Ask on your local board for some recommended musicians.  Many DJs will also do your ceremony music.  Check with your venue to see if this is allowed though.  We were married in a park and could not have any amplified music.

  • We're using an iPod and speakers :)
  • I got my bachelor's degree in music, so I know a lot of musicians.  Four of my close friends are flute players, so they're performing for my ceremony as a wedding gift.

Brass quartets or quintets are popular for outdoor ceremonies (especially in bigger, open spaces where no amplification is possible) because they're a lot louder than string groups.  There's a ton of music for these groups too, including traditional wedding marches.

(Some string players are finicky about having their instruments in full sunlight, so if you want a string group, make sure you're clear on how much sun they'll get while playing.)
  • We're having a string trio.

  • A harpist would be an option...My niece is having a choral group sing a cappella, and her brother may play some selections on the guitar.
  • I'm having the same problem..I'm glad to see you asked!
  • We are having a harpist.  She played at a friends wedding last summer and FI liked it, so we just asked our friend for information.  It fit into our budget so we booked her.  If you have other friends or family in the area, it is always helpful to ask, I also second looking for local college campuses in their music departments.
  • We are doing an IPod and speakers.

  • My aunt is a harpist and she will be playing for our ceremony.
