venue help! albany, saratoga, lake george... anywhere!

Hey girls :-)

I am looking for a wedding and reception venue for my future sister in law.... very small wedding (about 50-60 people).... no church, ceremony could be outside but for the reception she would prefer to not have a tent, but like a building to go into. They dont have much of a budget so it would have to be kind of cheap! She is looking to do a buffet, or cocktail/appetizer type thing, no sit down 3 course dinner.

Any ideas?

Most places have a minimum.  Your best best is www.albanyweddings.com. That will give you a lot of info on venues.  One of the places I looked at was Stadium Golf Club in Sch'dy.  It's pretty, especially for an outdoor wedding.

I would try Top of the World in Lake George www.topoftheworldgolfresort.com They do small weddings and you are able to hold your ceremony outside, plus the view is great.  Good luck!

I am looking at Longfellows and the Century House....both are reasonable (~90/head) for a 3 course sit-down, including 4 hr open bar and cake. You can cut out what you need, and a buffet should bring it down even more.

We are getting married in Rexford which is near Albany. The basic package, which is what we are going plus adding on 1 or 2 things, is about $45 or so dollars.  We are doing sit down dinner but the will do buffet.  If you get married on a Friday or a Sunday they waive the minimum amount of people and drop the price a bit.  HTH

The Georgian (Lake George), The Italian American Center (Albany), The Elks Lodge (Rotterdam)... just a few ideas.

My mom is getting married next year at Birchhill. Her wedding will be only 50-60 people.

Contact Constanzos, their website is: http://costanzosriverside.net/aboutus.aspx
My sister got married there a few years ago and friends of my husbands and I got married there recently. Their prices are very resonable around 30-40pp I think?

We just got married at The Mansion Inn:  www.themansionsaratoga.com

It was AMAZING. They do not have minimum guest requirements, (there were 68 people at our wedding and it worked out great), you can have the ceremony outside in several locations, and you can have the reception in their Barn if it's raining and you don't want a tent. We didn't use a tent either, but since the weather was great we had the reception outdoors on their deck.

Oh, and they do all their own food and will work with you for any budget on that. Our food was incredible! Several of the guests said it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding!

Check them out if you get a chance!
