How many servers?

How many servers do you need for a plated dinner (no wine service)?  We are having about 12 tables, and originally wanted 1 per table, but we could definitely cut down our costs by cutting down on staff.  Anyone know what is typical?  Thanks!

    It is usually 1 server for every 8-12 guests. So, if you have 8 per table and one server for every 12, then you can cut costs.
