Hotel room blocks?

My wedding is 3/23/13, when do I need to block rooms at a hotel? How do I know how many I need? Should I base it off the # of OOT guests I'm inviting?

Re: Hotel room blocks?

  • It couldn't hurt to go ahead and look into this and put some rooms aside. If you give your hotel a guest count for OOT guests they should be able to recommend a number of rooms to put aside. Also they will give you a deadline to give your guests to book.

Mine put 15 rooms aside (4 of those were 2 bedrooms and I had about 50 OOT guests) and then said we could put more aside if those rooms got booked quickly.

  • We did ours 6 months out, and we way overbooked. It doesn't really matter, though, since it doesn't cost anything. For our 150 person wedding, we booked 10 rooms at Hotel Palmoar, and 20 rooms at the Hyatt. I think overall about 10-15 rooms were used.
  • I just did mine and we have about 80% of OOT we booked 20 and 10 at 2 diffrent hotels.
