Introduction with needed reception ideas

My name is Michelle, my fiance's name is Chuck. This is a second wedding for both of us. Both families love the other families so I am very blessed.

We got engaged exactly one year after our first "real" date which was March 13th. Yes, our first date was on Friday 13th, LOL.

We haven't exactly chosen a date, but I had to choose one here for the purpose of joining. We know we want it to be warm because I'm a flip flop girl and that's how he pictures us getting married.

We are looking at several outside venues for a ceremony. Thinking outdoor casual as you can see from the dress I like and of course the flip flops. Thing is, not sure what to do about a reception. Just want something simple and casual like the ceremony itself.

We haven't made a guest list yet either, I know I know, I'm behind already, lol, but we are thinking around 30 or less in attendance.

One of the locations is a rose garden, so I'm thinking of pulling colors from it as we don't have any grand and glorious color choices we must have.

Hmmm, the more I type, the more I realize I need to do and quick. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Welcome, and congrats Michelle and Chuck.

There will be a local board that can give you venue ideas. Here, we pretty much discuss things that happen with second marriages. You can have whatever type of wedding you want, and no one here will judge you. There is also an "outdoor wedding" thread on the Special Topic Wedding Board.

Good luck. Look forward to hearing more from you.

We have a venue narrowed down, it's just the reception ideas that boggle me. Since it is a second wedding for both, we don't want overkill or formal.  I'll be sure to check the boards more, thanks!

Hi Michelle, congrats!! I see you are from Kansas City, I lived there for 7 years so I'm assuming the rose garden you are talking about is at Loose Park! It's a beauitul location for a wedding, I have seen many there! I have also seen people have their receptions at the entrance to Loose Park, under that covered area and have food there and I've even seen a band there! Loose Park is a fabulous location for pictures as well!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Welcome - we're having a cocktail reception (and we don't call it a reception LOL) at a local golf course.  We're having open bar, appetizers, and cake.  It'll be for 2-1/2 hrs on a Sunday evening and it'll be pretty laid back and casual.  Attire will be golf club casual - meaning dockers and collared shirts for the guys.  Nothing elaborate, but it will be classy.
