Photographer Issues

We booked our photographer in March and paid a deposit. She said she would get me a typed copy of all the paperwork within a week, with a day-of timeline and how much I owe for the remainder of the photography. Well...it's almost 3 months later and I still haven't received anything. I have tried to contact her but all I get are emails back saying she's out of town or her internet is down. I am starting to get really frustrated, and worried. If I can't get information from her now what is it going to be like on our wedding day. I chose this photographer because my MOH had her for her wedding two years ago and she was great. I am starting to wonder if I should just lose the $250 deposit and go with the photographer FI and I really wanted to begin with but can't really afford. If I do that I will lose the $250 deposit and have to pay about $250 more than originally planned...(the photographer I booked ended up costing more than expected but by the time she told me a rough estimate I had already signed the contract). AHHHHHHH I can't wait for the stressful parts to be over!!!!

Re: Photographer Issues

  • I completely understand photographer issues! I was shown a few of the photos from our engagement shoot and my bra was showing in each photo! As a photographer by trade I know to look for those things, as a subject I tend to forget. I'm so past being upset...

  • if you do chose to go with the other photographer perhaps you can persuade the first one that they broke the contract by not getting the paperwork to you in a timely manner and being unavailable and you can get your deposit back.  I think I would send an email (and a certified letter) to photographer A explaining your concerns (the certified letter and email is so that you have proof of your attempts to contact them).  Im sorry you have to go through this, esp. when we're so close to the wedding.  Good luck and keep us posted.
  • Wow that is horrible news. I would try out what the PP mentioned. Sending an email stating what you plan to do (they the photog. is seemingly breaking her contract by not responding and not getting you promised information, maybe even send a notorized letter) and see if she responds. Make sure you include dates that you met and that paperwork was promised, how much you paid as a deposit etc. But yes you def. want to make sure that she is there on your big day, and this does not bode well for her..

  • Have you tried other methods of contacting her like calling her or showing up at her studio (if she has one)?  You need to pick up the phone before doing anything and try calling at least a few times over the course of a week or so.  You may find out the entire thing is a complete miscommunication and that she didn't intend to leave you hanging.  I'd also ask your MOH if she had any problems like this, OR what contact she had with the photographer prior to her wedding day.

  • Thanks for your advice ladies. We were able to get our original photographer cancelled and booked our new photographer. I tried everything I could to reach photo A...she is only at her studio by appointment and calling/emailing went unanswered. Yesterday I called her three times in the morning, and wach time it would ring a couple of times then get forwarded to voicemail (she only has a cell phone) saying "The caller you are trying to reach is busy, leave a message". I then had my FI call her and she answered...she was totally rejecting my calls because she knew I was irritated! So luckily my FI spent 30 minutes on the phone and got us out of the contract...we just lose our $250 deposit. The new photographer is giving us a discount since we talked to her at the bridal showcase back in January so it kind of evens out...I'm just glad this stress is off my shoulders and I can focus on something else!
