Parents Gifts, are they suppose to be equal?

Hi,

So my parents are paying for the wedding and FI parents are paying for the rehearsal dinner. There is quite a price difference between the two as far as contributions. We are planning on giving both parents albums for Christmas. But as far as gifts for the rehearsal dinner should my parent's gift be more since they have contributed more? I worry my mom will be offended otherwise, but I don't want my future in laws to be hurt either.

    I'm not sure what the outcome of the other thread was, but you could give them both the same size gift at the RD, and give your parents an additional gift in private later.

    seems petty to me to base the gift on the monetary contribution. Do you appriciate them less because they're spending less money?
