Honeymoon hiccup

We're not honeymooning until May of next year so I originally wasn't going to book our trip until November, we're planning on doing a small ship cruise in Alaska. However I was reading reviews and stumbed onto one that said they were starting to book up quickly.  So I had been talking with my parents travel agent and told her to go ahead and book so she finally got back to me today and said that the cabin level that we wanted was all booked already for the trip/week we wanted.  The next cabin level up is available but another $600/person, FI is already nervous about the expense of this trip so I'm not about to add another $1200 on to that.  She did say one of their other itineraries that is in the same price point has 1 room left so I emailed her back and told her to try the week before otherwise we'll go with that other itinerary.  Hopefully it'll still be great! But now I'm wicked nervous.  We were looking at the end of May because the prices go up a few hundred once you go into June.  Shoot and now I'm second guessing telling her to look into that earlier week and not just telling her to book the one with the open cabin.  The problem is I don't know really enough about the areas they're going to know which one is the best. FI doesn't get home from work until I'm asleep so I can't ask him either.  Oh well I'm sure we'll get it figure out... thanks for letting me vent!

Re: Honeymoon hiccup

  • What are some more ideas regarding honeymoon with respect to places in US

udream - Take deep breaths! Either way, it's going to work out fine and I'm sure you'll have an amazing and beautiful trip. I think that if you're flexible and can go the week before, then that's the simplest route. But if your heart's not set on that specific itinerary, there's no problem with going to the second one that's the same price. As long as it's Alaska, it's going to be amazing, right? :)

Alisonie - Anywhere you've never been, or anywhere you've been and loved can be a fantastic honeymoon! I've seen in people's signatures so far that they're going such places as New Orleans, Orlando, New York City, upstate New York, Chicago, and many other places. I work at Dollywood, and we see tons of people there on their honeymoons. The Great Smoky Mountains and the surrounding area (Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge) are a great option with lots to do and see.

We're heading to southern California, because we've never been farther west than Missouri and have been dying to make a trip out to the west coast. We figured this is the perfect opportunity! Neither of us have passports, and it wasn't something we were able to budget in far enough beforehand to get them in time, so we knew we were going to go somewhere in the US. We originally planned on Florida but since it's so much closer (only an 8 hour drive from where we just moved to in Tennessee) we decided we might as well make our California trip our honeymoon.

  • The week before was already booked but thankfully that other itinerary still had that one room left so we went with that.  The company has pics posted on their facebook page that I found yesterday and both routes look gorgeous and still include tons of wildife view, I just really want to see Orcas and lots ot whales!  So we got that booked so I feel better!!

Alisonie- we love to camp and rarely get time off together so we were also thinking of Yellowstone which is gorgeous, I also think Napa or a fun road trip could be fabulous.
