AW,AW: Bride with a dress!

I couldn't wait to "knot" about this! I ordered my dress today!

I was between two lovely gowns. The first was at Mariella's and was Enzonai Blue Casablanca. It photographed better but just didn't feel right on me. The second dress is at Bridal Trousseau in Branford and is Rosa Clara's Camilla gown.

How I came to this gown is quite serendipitous. I was originally between the mariella's dress and a harold's gown. Harold's called the day of my appointment and said that the designer of my potential dress lost the print and is no longer making the gown. So....I called Bridal Trousseau since I liked a few gowns there that my mom didn't see. They made an appointment for us that evening....now is when the story gets good...

The only reason I didn't just go get the mariella's gown is because I had reservations about it being a strapless sweatheart. I had my eyes on strappy lace but couldn't find it. As we are pulling up to the store the owner is putting a gorgeous dress in the window. They were debating in the store if they should put it in the store front or on a rack. It had JUST came in; right out of the box; getting ready for the trunk show. I swooped in and immediately asked if I could try it on and how much. I wasn't sure about it immediately but each time I went back in to try another gown I couldn't help but touch that gown.  Bridal Trousseau was so awesome and even worked with me on the price. I tried on both gowns again today and without further ado...my dress...

I brought my grandma with me :)    There's work to be done (especially on top) to make me look less top heavy. It will look much better in my size.

Here's the dress that didn't quite make the cut. Like I said, photographed better but just didn't feel right. My dress has sooo many nice details this one just looked to bland in

Congrats!  I'm a Bridal Trousseau bride as well (I had seen my dress at other stores - Harold's/Mariella's as well, a Maggie Sottero - but they had the best deal for pricing of the dress!)!  It's really gorgeous!  Aren't they so nice over there?  Who did you work with?

Thanks everyone! I'm so excited! It will probably come in Feb. or March. Can't wait to pick out shoes and accessories!

Vanessa-I've only been to the new store. It was very nice in there and everyone was so helpful. The hardwood floors felt so nice against my bare footsies.

Karebear- Who didn't I work with!! lol. My first appointment was with Sandra. The next time I went in was Thursday. I worked with Judy. Timmy was also there every step of the way..poor guy, every 10 minutes Judy was saying, "Timmy get me shoes, Timmy how much is this one," in a nice way..lol. When I came back to buy my gown I had everyone making a fuss out of me. I worked again with Judy but had Sandra coming over to see what I picked out, Lisa steaming my mom's veil (isn't going to work), and Timmy measuring my heels..lol.  Who did you work with? Are you doing your alterations there?

I have nothing but good things to say about them. I'm a little nervous about alterations. The gown I tried on was huge on me. All my measurements except my waist will fit into a size smaller. But, I have to go with the size I tried on just because I'm 1.5 inches too big in my waist to make the smaller size work. It's going to need to be taken in a lot everywhere (the top, my hips, thighs, everywhere except my waist!) I think these gown companies do their sizing like this on purpose. They do it all the time though and must know what they are doing. I did a hollow to hem (where it is shortened by the designer before it arrives based upon the stores measurement. I had a nightmare that the dress came in and was wayyyy to short.

I just looked closer and noticed the ruffles!! I just decided I love it more. One of my friends had a V-neck wedding dress that dipped low in the back like yours. She found this awesome long necklace that she was able to wear longer in the back and shorter in the front. When she first told me about it, I thought it sounded weird. On the wedding day though, it looked so pretty!! It looked really nice having a necklace kind of go down her back. Just thought I'd mention it, because it made me think of it when I saw the back of your gown!
