Bachelorette party--good places to go dancing in DC area

Hi everyone,
Would love your suggestions for great places to go dancing in the DC area!
My bridal party and other friends coming to my bachelorette party are all from out of town, and I live way out of the city, so we will likely get a hotel room downtown. We all really want to go dancing. But we're in our early 30s and would like the crowd to not be much younger than us. We're also not really Love / Fur / Ultrabar-type people. We are the types who like chill bars that happen to have dancing (like the dancing that they have at Fado on Friday nights, or even a less-college-y version of Rumors would be great).
We'll have a big group of maybe a dozen, and would love if we can avoid getting all separated because of bars being super crowded.
Also because of people being unfamiliar with the area, we probably want to stick to really touristy and safe (relatively speaking!) parts of town, that are close to a metro and not too intimidating for folks not from cities! My favorite parts of town are midtown, Chinatown, and Dupont, if that helps.
Any suggestions? Thanks!!

I threw my friend's bachelorette party at ShadowRoom last September. We're in our late-20's and it was a blast. I think there were 14 or 15 girls in total, we stayed at the Hotel Gregory and just walked to ShadowRoom. The suites at the St. Gregory were a decent price and have a kitchenette with a full size fridge and I think an oven so you can bring food and drinks for pre-gaming or late night snacks.

ShadowRoom was our #1 option because they have a tv at each table that will play a slideshow of your pictures the whole night, so I sent in a bunch of pictures of all of us girls and of my friend and her fiance and their baby, she LOVED it!!

    Good luck!!

i also like ShadowRoom but Josephines is also pretty decent too, depending on the night. The Park at Fourteenth is also usually pretty good. We're all in our late twenties, early thirties and The Park is great for us...it's like the "grown-up" version of Love. so the music is great for dancing, there's lots of people (makes for great people watching) but if you stick around the first floor, there's also usually enough room to spread out and find a place to sit every now and then too.

i also heard of a couple new bars that recently opened that are more lounge-ish. i forget what it's called but i think there's one by chinatown/Verizon Center that opened recently that looks really nice.

ShadowRoom seemed to have a VERY young crowd when I went there a few months ago. Midtown, The Park at Fourteenth, and Josephine's are pretty decent bets. Starting at Eighteenth Steet Lounge and then heading over to Midtown worked well for a recent bachelorette party I attended.

I would go for Josephines. It's a nice crowd but the place itself it pretty decent and cozy depending on the night you go. I would choose maybe a friday night.

I like upstairs at DC9. It's really chill, kind of divy, but everyone just dances their hearts out :) They don't really play rap. Check it out :)
