Ceremony and Reception Venues in South Suburbs

I'm having a hard time finding ceremony and reception venues that I like and are pretty close to both our families. We want to get married in a church, I picture the older little white church with stained glass windows, or something like that. Instead of some of the big fancy churches. And a reception venue within 20 minutes, just not at the church. We want South Suburbs or somewhere kinda between Faribault and the cites, or within about the same distance of the two. We're thinking about 130 (maybe 150 to be safe) guests.

Any ideas would be awesome!!!

We were looking at that area too since its about 1/2 way for both parents.  I didn't find anything in Faribault that was too good.  Owatonna is a bit far and the holiday inn reception area isn't that great.

We are getting married in Lakeville (closer to the Faribault side and right off 35). Its called Crystal Lake Golf Course.  Victoria and Diane have been great to work with so far.  They have 2 locations. One on Buck Hill in Burnsville and the golf course in Lakeville.

Sorry-I don't have any recommendations for churchs.  We are using the reception location as the ceremony location also.

Have you looked into the Steeple Center in Rosemount? It used to be an old church, but now has been redone for events. They have super low rates and do fit the old white church feeling.

We only looked in the south metro for our venue as well.  We ended up looking at 3 places:

    Crystal Lake Golf Course

First place we looked at and really liked it.  Just thought the space was a little plain and may be too small for our amount of guests.  I mean technically it could hold our desired amount but it seemed like it would be tight.

Holiday Inn Lakeville-  Also, a nice space and good prices but being in a hotel ballroom seemed too dark for the look we wanted and the space was HUGE.  It may have looked empty with our guest amount.

Stonebrooke Golf Course - Shakopee- WINNER.  It was exactly what we wanted.  Bright space, elegant looking, beautiffffffful views of the golf course and it had some character.  We got so many compliments on it and I absolutely loved every single thing about it.  Deb is awesome to work with and super nice.  I highly recommend looking here :)

All three places were good but we just fell in love with Stonebrooke.

I will 2nd the Holiday inn of lakeville, However stonebrooke kinda turned us off. We went to a wedding there last summer and they took close to 3 hours to serve dinner. The dinner started @ 7:00 and took until 10. By the time the dance floor tables were removed it was 10:20ish so there wasn't much time for the DJ to work with.

I remember you or someone else mentioning this before our wedding and so I was a bit concerned.  I had known of other people who had their weddings there and didn't hear a problem with it so I wasn't quite sure what to expect.  We ended up with about 190 guests and while I don't know how long exactly it took to serve dinner I know it wasnt 3 hours for us.  By the time the dance floor got ready and people were done eating it was probably almost 2 hours.  I asked people if it seemed long and no one seemed to notice.   We also had an AWESOME dj who did a great job of entertaining while dinner was being served and eaten so maybe that distracted everyone if it was taking a long time :)

I would def say it's worth checking out!!
