Fleur de lis theme

Hi NOLA brides!
I'm orignally from New Orleans but now live in Washington DC. With my love of the city (and the Saints!) I want to have a fleur de lis theme with the colors black, white and pink for a May 2012 wedding.

I'm wondering how you are incorporating fleur de lis in your wedding. I've thought of invites, favors, maybe on the cake but would love to hear other ideas!

PS- I'm jealous of yall for being able to have awesome New Orleans/ cajun food for your weddings!

    your jewelry, hair pins, garter belt, floral pins/decoration for centerpieces and bouquet accents, use the symbol in lighting against a wall or on the floor with your monogram/names, printed on napkins...the possibilities are endless!

    Why not have your wedding in New Orleans anyway?  I am from NoLa but live in DC now and still got married in NoLa because I just couldn't imagine it any other way.

    Having said that, I still used the fleur de lis in the typical places you mentioned: favors, cake & invitation.  Maybe for your favors you could go a step further and get something New Orleans related?  Just to bring a little NoLa flavor in?

    You could also do a 2nd line - I know it might be strange for your guests, but once they figured it out, it could be fun.  I know some of the weddings I went to when living in Louisiana would do 2nd lines at the end of the wedding and the dj or band would just play appropriate songs while wedding guests 2nd lined around the room.

    Oh, also, we did our toast using mint julep cups that had a fleur de lis on them.  I love them.  We got them from Adler's.  If you didn't want mint julep cups, you could maybe still get toasting glasses with a fleur de lis on them.

    I will have my cake topper and toasting glasses with Fluer De Lis. I am trying to firgure out where I could use Fleur De Lis too. I would love to get a great website to search through. I will be looking for invitations too. I now live in Texas.

    I live in TX as well and am getting married in NOLA in June.  I used etsy.com to find alot of fluer de lis stuff as well as zazzle.com.

    We used fleur de lis on all of our paper goods, cake, toasting flutes and our favors as well. We also used black and white too, so if you need ideas, message me and I will send you pctures.

    I live about 2 hours east of DFW, my fiance is from NOLA so that is how we decided on the Big Easy for our wedding! We are so so exicted...have you picked out a venue yet?

    We are getting married here in Dallas. My friend and I chose the same date so I said that I would change mine back a year. So I was thinking October 2012. I think we may go to the JOP next month and save for the big wedding that I want.

    Im also having a New Orleans theme wedding in October, 2011.  Im having it in Florida and wanted you to know that you can still have great cajun food.  You just have to be sure that the caterers will let you sample it first!  Have fun with it!

    My daughter is getting married in Sept. and using Fleur De Lis in her decorations. We have picked lots of things from Lancaster House here in Louisiana. They have a website you could Google and maybe they can ship, I don't know. They have lots of favor type things for really good prices like Fleur De Lis bottle openers and wine stoppers and lots of things you can use to decorate the reception with at wholesale prices. If they won't ship and you still have family in Louisiana, they have stores in Baton Rouge and Shreveport and are usually open the first weekend of every month, the website will tell you when they are open.
