Looking for suggestions :) Wedding March 17 2012

Hey ladies :)

Wedding planned for March 17, 2012. Just about a year and a half away.  Obviously in the beginning stages of wedding plans.  We are tossing around tons of ideas (which i'll list below) and would love any input and additional ideas you may have.

This is a budget budget wedding! My fiance and I already have a wonderful child together, (7 months) and are not looking to go into debt for the affair. I would say a budget of 5-6k for wedding and reception not counting decor and DIY projects as I will do those slowly (Luckily I have the time!)

There will be about 50-75 guets max. Some out of towners for sure as my family lives in Michigan, and much of his in nebraska.

We are not real finiky about the wheres or whats. Most important to us is an enjoyable time for our family and good music :)

Ideas we are considering:
  • Beach wedding. Possibly renting a large vacation home on beach and hosting the small reception at the home. (assuming this is okay with the owners)
  • Beach Wedding, reception at a venue near by
  • Winter Park Farmer's Market Wedding. The rental is definitely in our budget... I'm just not sure how the logistics would work since the reception site would be directly next (same building) as reception site. (Do Guests just immediately move into  room for drinks etc? Also logistic issues with Winter Park.. they have a Farmer's market every saturday so the venue will be occupied until 4pm. Which would require an evening wedding. But even if the wedding was 6pm... that does not allow much set up time.
  • Ottis Castle St Augustine We found a lovely venue (well pictures look lovely, haven't toured it yet" that is a replica "castle" of one in Ireland. It holds about 50 people.
Any suggestions are highly appreciated!!!

Winter Park Farmers Market works! It is an extremely popular place for both the service on the porch and the reception inside. Whatever caterer you use quite possibly has used that venue and will know how to get it done on time. We used Puff "n Stuff and they were spot on timing wise...not to mention the food was wonderful! We had 50 people and there was plenty of room for the cocktail hour and a large dance floor as well as the tables. If you do a buffet there would be plenty of room for that as well. One word of advise, book it asap if that is "the" place.

Another idea is Casa Feliz http://www.casafeliz.us/ is another beautiful spot.

    Hello!

We are on a super small budget as well, and chose the Winter Park Farmer's market for our ceremony (on the patio) and reception as well. We are having around the same amount of guests as you, lots of out-of-towners, and did lots of DIY too! So, we're pretty much in the same boat. Its a great location, very charming and I'm sure our guests will love the look!

You are right in the comment about how little time you have to set up. I'm getting married in 13 days and am still nervous about the time crunch. 4pm is when you can get in, but they DO set up chairs and tables to specifications that you give them the week before. So that saves A LOT of time. I am also lucky enough to have several relatives that are willing to help set up before our 530 ceremony.

Anywho, with this location and the vendors that we chose, we were able to stay UNDER budget! =) I will be posting vendor reviews and details soon after my wedding if you wanna get the info from there later =)

    Happy planning!

Ottis castle I actually here is very expensive and that the owners are really strict and some the floors are just sand.  I haven't been in it, been by it, isn't very big. But if you do get married there there is a GREAT restuarant just down the road from it called Cap's on the Water is is so beautiful, they hold receptions and they have amazing food. One my favorite restuarants.
