Make up consult :)

Yesterday I had my appt with MAC and I felt sooo glamourus when I left!  I love the colors that the makeup artist used the only thing I"m iffy about is the lashes.. I love them, but I'm feeling they may be too long.

Should I go for a shorter lash?  What do you think of the overall look?

Please pay no mind to the messy hair!

You look great Jen!! The lashes look great, they don't look to long in the photo. But if you don't feel comfortable with them, you could always go a I little shorter!

Jen you look great! I chose the long lashes even though I was iffy too. I decided to go dramatic, I think you should too!

  • Your makeup looks amazing! I don't notice the lashes being too long either but instead of going shorts on length you could do a half lash. It's gives you the drama all on the outer corners of your eyes. I used these but I think it would have been better if I had the full dramatic pages!! Remember the more dramatice thr makeup the more it will turn out in photos!!

  • You look gorgeous.  I think the lashes are fine.  You're just stunning.
  • Thank you ladies! The MAC rep was great and my FSIL was able to follow along well.. actually she did one I and the rep did the other and I don't think there is a noticable difference.  We are going to practice one or two more times before the wedding.

Call me naive, but I didn't realize how expensive MAC make up was!  I spent way more than I budgeted for, but the good thing is that everything is mine to keep.  I'm considering going back to get a more everyday style that I could use for my rehersal dinner and well more often.  I'm going to wait till right before I leave to see if I can squeeze it in our budget.

I think I'll stick with these lashes... I did want dramatic and after reading your comments it seems like these fit the bill.

  • May I suggest also learning another look that's waterproof for your TTD? I found great waterproof mascara (Lancôme definicils waterproof) and I used Stilla waterproof liquid eyeliner. And make sure for your TTD if you wear fake eyelashes you have waterproof glue for them!!

You look BEAUTIFUL Jen!!!!  The colors she used on your eyes are totally gorgeous!  I think the lashes look really good, but I agree if you feel uncomfortable then go shorter! You don't want to be feeling at all uncomfortable on your big day!

Question, if you don't mind me asking, what all did you buy and how much was it?  Since we are pretty much doing the same stuff for our wedding I am also going to MAC to get my make-up done next week with my friend/bridesmaid. I just don't know how much to expect but I know MAC is expensive.  Also, did you make an appointment or just show up?

I'm definitely going to look into waterproof makeup.. thanks!

@Sam - I bought everything!  lol  the brushes were the most expensive part and since I only own cheap brushes I decided to just go ahead an buy some...  and that was about $100 in brushes...  You definitely can get brushes somewhere else...but didn't want to shop around

I also bought every piece of makeup she uses.. some was option but I splurged anyway...  So I got a bronzing powder, a shimmer, mineral powder, concealer, eye primer, liner, 5 shadow colors, foundation, mascara, lashes, adhesive, lip liner, lip stick, lip gloss.  In total with the brushes it was about $450...  I originally budgeted $250... but I wasn't going to get the brushes at first.  The way I looked at it, is that I have always wanted to invest in good makeup and brushes and this was my opportunity.  I could have paid someone to do it, and pay less, but I would't have been able to keep any of the product.

I also had an appt.  I really reccomend that, because then they take their time with you.  while I was there people were walking up and having to wait  1/2 hour or more and the artists were pressured to rush.

Hope that helps to prepare you...  :-)  Again... I have no regrets...

  • I love MAC!  You look beautiful Jen. I think the lashes are fine as well. I wish I actually knew how to put those things on. No such luck.

I do have a question for you, for the MAC consult was that for them to test out looks for you and then you will try to do them yourself for your wedding?  I want to do my own make up as well and didn't even think about this.

I think your budget for make up at MAC was about right. Their brushes are pricey but of good quality and you will use them for a very long time.
