Opinions about October 30th wedding day

We are getting close to picking out our wedding date.  It will either be October 30th or November 6th.  What are your opinions about October 30th since it is so close to Halloween?  I do not wish to have a Halloween themed wedding, but a fall themed wedding.  Colors will be red, orange, yellow, brown with the red most prominent.

Thank you for your opinions.

You can make your wedding whatever you want it to be. Oct. 31st was actually super popular for weddings this year being on Halloween and I saw some really beautiful non-halloween themed weddings! I'm having a beach wedding but we are not doing a beachy theme. Just make it how you want and don't worry about it being close to halloween if that's truly the date you want!

If it were me, it would depend on how many families with young kids are invited. Lots of kids who would miss halloween fun because they are out of town for your wedding = bad. Not many kids affected = go for it!

I have to agree with the kids thing. . however you could counteract this with a candy buffet :)

That's my birthday! I think it would be fine...you could definitely do a candy buffet if you're worried about kids missing out on candy.

That's a good point on trick-or-treating that I wouldn't have thought of.  I'm sure when I was 5-years old I would have been miffed at missing out on Halloween awesomeness for a wedding haha.

We had this issue this year.  The venue that we fell in love with only had 2 available Saturdays...10/31 and 11/21.  Originally we didn't think 10/31 would be TOO bad...we didn't have many kids invited, as Jess mentioned, so we were seriously considering it.  The only thing that stopped us was the thought of celebrating future anniversaries always on Halloween.  Small thing, but ultimately we decided we wouldn't want to share that with our kids' trick or treating ;) However, if it weren't on the actual day (i.e., 2010, the Saturday being 10/30), I think I would've been fine with it.  Of course, now I'm partial to November weddings...so I think 11/6 would be an equally beautiful day :)

We had several ladies on here who got married on 10/31 of this year, Im sure they could give you the scoop on the pro's and con's of having a wedding around (or on, in their case) Halloween. I had the option of choosing 10/31 also but didn't because I didnt want our anniversary to interfere every year with Halloween parties Wink  BUT, the date you're looking at is not Halloween, and if you are NOT having a ton of out-of-town guests who have children, I dont think it'd be a problem. Early November weddings are also lovely, I almost picked 11/7.

It is what you make it!  You could have a beach themed wedding in December if that's what you really want.  Just decided what date will be better for you and your families.

Yes, I'd go for what you want. The Nov date is close to the Oct one, so you can easily have your fall themed wedding and its appropriate.
