Custom Postage Stamps (and clicky poll!)

Zazzle.com is having their big sale, where you can get custom stamps at face value! Just enter JULYPOSTDEAL code.

On a related note- do you think it's super cheesy to have custom stamps with your photo on it? FI and I are trying to decide if we should do this or not.  I'm at least going to get one of their generic love ones, since the official USPS ones kind of suck this summer.... but:

I voted puke-worthy... but not really! But maybe cheezy is more approps. I personally think they seem really vain, and while they are on sale now and only cost face value, I would look at it, and think, oh my god, they spent extra money just to have a picture of themselves?

We bought the king and queen love stamps, the fine art stamps, and the cowboy stamps for our various things. The baseball stamps are out now, which totally bums me out, because they were supposed to be out in June, when I was actually sending everything out, but they held them back. - so that being said, clearly I care about which stamps I am putting on the invites and stuff, and didn't just go with the forever stamps and call it good, so maybe I am being totally hypocritical. SORRY!

Oh well... in all reality, 5 people will pay attention to the stamps, the rest of them it won't even phase them, whether its a picture of you, or a picture of a flower.

haha. That's sort of my thought.  The first time I saw them on a friend's invite, I verbally went "awww."  But now that I'm in wedding-planning mode, it just seems like another thing to waste money on.  I think we might still done of their cuter generic ones.  I just don't want the dorky ring or cake one from USPS.

I wouldn't do a picture of us but I am considering doing the monogram I designed.  IIf you hadn't posted that coupon it wouldn't even be a consideration because in my opinion its too much money for something that half the people probably aren't going to notice.

I voted cute but I personally would not spend money on them. I think if you want to go with something that has your pic on it, I would make custom return address labels from VP instead. Less expensive and still just as cute!

I guess I wouldn't do a picture of us on it but I like the idea in the PP to use a monogram or something unique to the theme of your wedding. It is so small that I wouldn't think the picture would turn out that well but I guess I have never seen them before. I would keep it simple personally.

I picked no one will care anyway, though I was torn between that and puke-worthy! Doing a photo of myself is definitely not my taste and personalized stamps seems like an extra unnecessary item/cost  to worry about.

That being said, we just sent out our invites and I thought the postage options were good - we went for the king and queen stamps  - but maybe I don't care as much about postage as others.  I was just happy that I didn't have to use american flag stamps!

It's a topic over on my club board right now (where I got the coupon from, actually.)

I never thought about personalized return labels!  I might just do that instead.  I'd never considered spending extra money on personalized stamps, but now that it's face value....

I cared about stamps to the extent that I had the right postage amount, so needed the $0.64 ones for invite (so got the wedding cake ones) and got the $0.44 wedding bands stamp for the RSVP.

I figure I'm never going to have a legit reason for wedding themed stamps again, so why not go with the fun USPS ones?  I think they're cute w/out being gaggy, and don't push the cutesy factor as I didn't take any more time picking them out (or designing personalized ones) than I would for any other stamp.

Not worth the time/money in my opinion, a stamp is a stamp.  As long as it gets there and I don't have to resend it, I don't really care that much.

I think they're cute, but I definitely wouldn't spend the extra money on them.

Also, I'd feel kind of weird with my face floating around out there in postal service land for ALL to see. Not sure why...

We did our face on a stamp for the STD's.  At that time, most of each of our sides had never seen one of us before.  And since our photo wasn't on the STD, it made sense.  We had quite a few people compliment on them and 2 people ask what the site was to do those for a party they were having.

For the invites, we still did the personalized stamp, but using the monogram that I made.

I don't regret it.  It was one time in our life and it worked out well.

If the custom stamps are face value, it might be cute to do something personal!  As far as the postage stamp increase...I am really hoping it won't go through (although it sounds pretty for-sure)..my FMIL just bought a ton of stamps (not the forever ones...) and they assured her they wouldn't be increasing the rate before May.  Of course, a week later, they announce the proposed increase!! Go figure.

<div>I'm not positive, but I'm almost sure... I think you can trade them in for the new ones, like currency.  So you can trade in 100 $0.44 stamps for 72 $0.46 stamps.</div>
