Hair/Makeup Artist tips!?

I have contacted a couple of beauty artists in the Kansas City area to do my hair and makeup for my wedding, and have been having trouble getting ahold of them... My wedding is not until April 2013, so we've got a while to go. But this is one of the only 'vendors' we have left to book and I just want to get it out of the way. The girls I've found that can travel to you on your wedding day are who I've called/emailed and they will not call/email me back! I've left voicemails, messages of interest and everything. I'm just wondering what other brides in my area think about this? Am I jumping the gun and need to sit tight for a few more months before searching? Or should I move on and look into other gals if they are being flakey??? Also, if anyone in this area has worked with or knows of hair & makeup artist I'd love some recommendations! Any input would be helpful!!

Well, when I was looking in bridal magazines, it said to book them 6 months in advace because the good ones go fast. You might be jumping the gun a little too quick, but it wouldn't hurt to book a person to get it out of the way. I looked here on the knot, and I found Catered Beauty. Her name is Summer Johnson. I left her a voicemail, & she got back to me pretty quick. And she will travel to your location also. I would just look on her website CateredBeauty.com. I hope this helps!

I booked mine about 6 months out but waited too late because my regular makeup artist was already booked. But....I actually found someone that was also great and better priced then my regular girl. Here name is Corie and she was fun to work with and professional as well. So she was very easy to in touch with and followed up with me. Corie Hair & Makeup Artistry and you can find her at:

I've already booked my hair and makeup (and my girls) for my June 2013 wedding. I'm using Deanna at Hello Beautiful for hair. She is awesome at what she does. She's also recommended another girl at the salon for make-up, so I've booked her as well. I'll obviously be doing a trial with both girls before the wedding to iron out the plans! Deanna prefers to work in the salon, but has said that she will come to you if that's what you prefer. You are the bride after all!

Just call and ask for Deanna. They may just give you her cell phone number because she does her own booking. Tell her what you're looking for and she'll tell you what she can do. Also, I've found that her prices are very reasonable!

This is actually one of the two girls I have contacted via email AND phone, and she hasn't gotten back to me... :-/ Which bums me out since I have seen many good reviews for her. I think at this point I must just be too early.

My daughter used Tiffany Franklin. She traveled to the Q Hotel to do my daughter's hair and makeup the day of the wedding. She did a fantastic job and was very communicative with us during the whole planning process

I contacted Cara Porter and Jolie Carrillo-Allen and they both responded ASAP. I haven't booked with either yet but I've heard good things about both and both seem reasonably priced. Let me know if you want contact info for either of them.
