Tsunami watch

Ladies on island...just wanted to check in & make sure you were all aware of the 8.9 earthquake that just hit Japan.  The damage in Japan is massive, but the reports are still early and details are hazy.  I do know that Hawaii and the West Coast of the US are under tsunami watch, so please stay safe & stay tuned to the news in case you are affected.

Hawaii is now under a Tsunami Warning.  Let's hope and pray the wave is only a foot tall like last time.  Stay safe everyone and start preparing if you're in a flood zone.

My thoughts are with everyone in Hawaii. Everything I've read said they aren't expecting major damage, let's hope not! I hope everyone is safe and damage is minimal <3

I hope you ladies on the islands and families are safe and prepared.  They have a warning going out for Southern California currently for 8:30 am PST.  My house is in the watch area, but I work further inland so I too hope its only 1-3 feet waves.  You all are in my thoughts.

My roommate's brother isn't answering his phone right now, so we're all just hoping he's sleeping and nothing has happened.  He lives on Maui and got engaged last night!!  Thinking of everyone over there.

    Ohana!!!

    thanks for thinking of us!!!

i found out right after I got off work and DH and I headed over to join the rush at Safeway to get supplies. I said "honey, next time we'll be more prepared, right?!" this was a wakeup call that we just need to have an emergency kit of food, water, etc ready at all times like I used to have growing up in Southern California!

I had a hard time sleeping with the sirens going off and just being really worried, but everything ended up okay with just some minor damages to the coast. If you haven't read the news, most of the damage has been done to the boat harbors and some public infrastructures, and 3 hotels (can't remember which island). Also Big Island had 7 homes flooded and one went out to sea! Crazy. The damages are estimated at $3 million and upwards.

I am just so glad this is over and it hit us very lightly. I am definitely keeping Japan in my prayers and thoughts!

I hope everyone here is safe. FMIL says her island wasn't really affected. Just minor flooding and boat damage. Thoughts and prayers to those in Japan and their families and friends.
