Invitation Envelopes

So I was planning on printing the addresses directly onto our envelopes.  So I started working on it last night, just doing a test envelope - and even though I have it set up as the right size document when the printer pulls the envelope it keeps saying that it is the wrong size.

I am going to try and play around with it tonight - but if it doesn't work I have to decide if I am going to handwrite the addresses on - and I do not have great handwriting - or print the addresses onto ivory labels.

What is everyone else doing?

Re: Invitation Envelopes

  • Well, I was planning to print the addresses onto clear labels and put them on to the envelopes. But I've gone a bit DIY crazy, and since I'm not planning on assembling them until the weekend of Jan. 21 (when I'm home w/ my mom and sister), I have some time to do it myself. I think I'll try to print the addresses in gray on the envelope, and then trace them with a fine-tipped pen. If that doesn't work, it will be back to the clear labels.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • I did the same thing, I downloaded a pretty font and printed them straight onto the envelope. If you'd like I can send you the template I'm using, its just in a word document (just send me a PM with your email address and I'll send it right over). My envelopes are approximately 6" by 4 and 3/4" inches. I just typed their name on the front, and on the back flap I typed my name and FI's name with our address.

  • amh, I have a template already, but thanks! Did you print them in full color, or in a light color and then you wrote over top of them?

I'm planning on using Monotype Corsiva, as that is the font we used on all of our printed materials.

  • I used Clear Labels w/ a Calligraphy Font and they really came out nice..

  • We are hand writing ours, since that is proper ettiquette.
  • I just printed them in black ink. I don't really have the time to go back over them and make them look like I did it, I wish I did but I don't. It still looks really nice though and I'm pretty proud of myself lol.

I found a pretty font and printed them onto the envelope in black.  I put the return address on the back of the envelope on the flap. The person Im sending it too on the front.  It looks really good!   My envelopes have a sparkle to them and when I printed on them the words have the sparkle on them too. It turned out really good.  I just used MS word and changed the paper to landscape and the 5x7 even though our envelopes are a little bigger than that. But it turned out perfect.!

I know its not proper etiquette to do this but,   I dont have time to write all of them since I work 40 a week and go to nursing school.. Just remember no matter what you do people will be looking at your invitation and not how it was addressed!  :)  Good Luck Girl

  • This is the one etiquette rule I deliberately broke.  I printed them out on labels.  My handwrtting sucks and the people at the end of the list would have thought the invite came from the psych ward and I wasn't paying $1 a line for someone to do it for me.

<div>I tried this and my pritner kept jamming up or not finding a connection! it was driving me insane so i wound up handwriting them all myself onto the envelope-took me two days but it was fine once i got a system down...take your time if you write them and it shoudl be fine. To be honest inviations are where i cut my expenses and i dont really remember anyones invitations from past weddings-i remeber things like the food or the dress- so dont stress too much. </div><div>
