Wedding Woes

home in time to make dinner...

I got into the most headdesk-worthy "discussion" about this on FB last night. (I really should stay away from the FB after debates. Really.)

My Mormon ex-boyfriend from HS posted something like, "I'm tired of the political discussions, so let's talk about something else. How did you meet your spouse?" Um, ok. Anyway, his business partner wouldn't let it go and talked about the debate anyway, and I had to throw in "Better question: Is your wife home in time to make you dinner?"

His response? "She chose the harder job of staying home with our children. That was her choice, and I supported that choice. So she is usually home anyway."

followed by "Of course, now that she's 9 months pregnant, we eat out a lot more, so I guess that's me making dinner."

What. The. Everloving. Fck.

Re: home in time to make dinner...

  • Who got the other 6 children dressed and bathed and presentable to leave the house to go out to that dinner that "you" made, buddy?

I just a friendly gal looking for options.

  • That "harder job" swill always drips with condescension.

  • Well Mormons do consider SAHM as the only job acceptable for a married woman.
  • No one cared, when I was primary breadwinner, who was making MY flucking dinner.

Probably because I'm supposed to be anorexicly thin and not eat or poop.

his logic is illogical if eating out means he made dinner.

technically, the undocumented immigrant worker probably made his dinner if he ate out at a restaurant.

<div>Hope he made sure those undocumented folks and waitresses were male and/or didn't have kids--otherwise he contributed to those poor womenz not being home to make dinner.</div>
