Alterations

Yay, after my freakout about my blood pressure and stopped taking my thyroid pills I actually LOST weight this week :) I do think I am reacting poorly to the Synthyroid. Thanks ladies.

My wedding is still pretty far out but when I went to look at dresses they are having a really great sale and I fell in love with this dress, I know that the size I am in I would need to keep anyways because I am rather big busted and it is the same dress size I usually have to buy and have altered down, but how hard do you think this would be to alter?

  • Have you talked to your doctor about stopping your meds?

Yeah she knows. I have an appointment in 2 weeks. She works downstairs from where I work. My blood pressure went dangerously high and kept spiking shortly after I took them. She has me doing labs the day I stopped, one more set, and she is going to draw a set in her office and more than likely changing my prescription.

As for the dress it does have a zipper. I have always worn traditional A-line dresses that pretty much so longs as the bust fits the rest can be made to work, this is the first "fitted" dress I have ever looked at. I have to order a 20 but the rest of me currently is a size 18 (minus the bust that puts me in a 20 to keep the girls where they belong).

  • I would also consult a seamstress, but FWIW, I had a fitted dress and it was taken in 2-3 sizes. Within 4 weeks of the wedding it was altered at least 3 times. The design wasn't at all ruined, but I had a heck of a time with the seamstress. She had to change the cut slightly to really get the fitted look that I wanted, and I still think she could have brought it in a bit more.
