Desperate bride!

I am planning my wedding for summer of 2011. I can't figure out the place for my ceremony or reception. I am cancelling my plans of a Mexico private reception in order to have my family there. I am looking for a rental house that is near the beach....on it would be ideal. It should be spacious and have a pool and able to host a small reception. I do not like there rules of hotels or the scene. I would love it if I were able to set a few tables and chairs out by the pool and host a small cocktail reception. I would need rentals, caterer and maybe a DJ. I do not know where to start can someone please help me? I have a small budget of 4-5000 for accommodations, rentals and food and i am starting to think this was a bad idea.

While I think you could have a lovely wedding in SC for $4-5K, renting a beachfront house big enough for a reception in the summer is probably going to eat up most of that number.  Would you consider renting a shelter at a park?  You could look at Huntington Beach (near Pawley's Island) or the on the Isle of Palms in Charleston.  I'm not sure what the liquor requirements would be, but a nice BBQ could be fun...

Take a deep breath and good luck!

Oak Island is 1 hour north of Myrtle.  Go to this site.... http://www.oakislandncweddings.com or Holden Beach is 30 North of Myrtle go to: http://www.holdenbeachncweddings.com They have complete ocean front wedding packages for under $2,000 that accomodate up to 50 people.  (It even includes the cake) You can rent a beach house on Oak Island for under $2,000 for a week, and have a BBQ house cater it for under $1,000.00  .... Just a suggestion!

Look into Edisto. It is pretty secluded but you can get a nice size house in the summer for a good price. I have also seen people rent a big house with a vacant lot beside it and put up a tent and dance floor on the vacant lot. Consider using your ipod for music, DIY invites, etc. to cut down on the budget. Ediston is good for the money. Also look into Fripp Island. Good luck!
