Good Morning!

Good Morning! I'm surprised no one's been on yet.

WR- My shower date is set! March 26. Woo Hoo!! I just put my guest list together. I only have 35 people... is that super small?

Last night I went to a beginner's knitting class. I got a group on for $40, so I went but the supplies were $36, which seemed expensive to me. I wasn't very good. I'm trying to determine if I like it enough to go back next week and buy the supplies. We'll see.

After class, I went home ate a bowl of cereal and headed to bed. Nothing exciting.

Good Morning! Yay for your shower!! I only had like 20-22 people at mine. A few people couldn't come, but I don't think even 30 were invited. I wanted it small and intimate, so basically I did not invite anyone from my dad's side. There was no way to invite 1 or 2 without inviting all of them, and I didn't want a gigantic shower.

A friend taught me how to knit a few years ago! I love it, though basically all I can do is scarves, I'd like to learn more. My friend moved though, so I will have to take a class to learn more. I think I am going to take a beginner crochet class at Pat Catan's in a couple weeks! I also want to learn to crochet--a lot easier to do afghans with crochet. So I should be able to get enough basics to know how to do it! I hope so!  I am going to be starting scarves for mine & H's nieces and nephews for Christmas this year, and hoping to do for all my cousin's kids as well. (like 9 or 10 other kids). So getting started now!

    Morning!
I'm so excited that we leave for FL today! I'm now just trying to get through the day... last night I packed and watched BL - that's about it! lol.

J- YAY for setting your shower date!! WOOHOO I *think* mine will be April 2nd :) And that's pretty exciting that you took a knitting class! Sounds fun! Although, I do agree, $36 for supplies seems a bit much to me... my aunt taught me a while back but I completely forgot already and was never really good at it - lol! GL with the next one if you decide to go!

Pirata - Enjoy your crochet class! I heart Pat Catans :) Also GL with the scarves! 10 is a lot of scarves for you to make!!  but sounds like fun, and I'm sure they'll love them!

gmc--have a safe trip!  And have fun!  I agree that $36 is a lot for supplies. I mean, I think I spent the most on knitting needles, because I like the bamboo ones. But the yarns I like are usually between $2-$4 per skein, and usually I can get them on sale or with coupons. I actually pumped one out for a friend for Christmas within 2 weeks. I mean, I had to work on it every night, but I still got it done in time! If I can get one a month done, I'll be in good shape!

Pirata- I did get the bamboo needles, but the yarn was $12.75 each, and we used two. I agree, it does sound like a lot of scarfs, but smart that you are thinking about it now! Good luck!!

Good morning all!  My shower is January 22, JL, and I don't think more than 25 were invited.  I booked the hotel for our honeymoon last night-- went through Priceline and saved about $100/night, so that's fun!  My first grade was posted as well, and I didn't fail!  Yay!

Between WR and work related stress, I'm actually ready to go back to school to have a break.  How awful is that?

Ash and Pirata- Thanks for the info on the different sizes of showers. Frankly, I just don't have a lot of friends, which is good to lead a drama free life, but stinks for events like this. :)

Ash- Hooray on your grade and honeymoon! Where are you going again?

We are going to DC for the honeymoon.  I used to live there for school, and I miss it.  Plus when I was there, I was a poor college student so didn't get to do a lot of the touristy stuff (aside from the free stuff) or go to some of the excellent restaurants.  We are only able to go for 4 days so it has to be something relatively close, and I love DC.

    Hi all,

I've been in our containment suite (gloves/gowns/only 1 computer) for over 2 hrs now... yuck!  But I have time for a quick post =)

I think I'm getting sick... which sucks.  But FI and I are talking about taking a vacation in March when the students are on spring break, and we are looking at a week in hawaii.  I've never been, and I'm not sure we can afford it, but it's fun to think about regardless.

jl- your shower invite list sounds about right to  me.  Knitting seems so relaxing, but I have crappy fine motor skills and would never be able to do it.

g - have fun on vacay!

    p - crocheting sounds awesome!

ash - a DC honeymoon sounds like a lot of fun - there is so much to do!  And a lot of good food.

Yay for DC Ash! Where are you staying?

Let me know if you'd like any restaurant recommendations! Since it is your honeymoon, I'm assuming you wouldn't want to GTG, but hopefully next time you visit!

Hotel is the St. Gregory Hotel on M Street-- it's a good location, I'm super excited.  I'd love restaurant recommendations.  I think when I lived there the nicest restaurant we went to was Old Ebbitt's Grill.  Probably no GTG over the honeymoon but I go down to visit and my brother's moving back down there soon so I'll be down more frequently!

yay Ash for DC HM! There are so many places we want to visit where we haven't been for ages--DC, Niagara Falls, etc. We just need the time and money to do them! Now we have 3 weddings in 2012. All OOT. One in Cali, one in Virginia and one in Maryland. So all are going to cost us a bit--travel expenses, at least 2 nights in hotels etc. So yeah, we may get to squeeze in an overnight getaway or two in this year and next, and go from there!

Wow JL what kind of yarn did you have to buy? What did you make/what are you making?
