Of course you will find Irish Catholic girls here! Here is the one my mom just gave me.
    4 cups of flour
    1/2 cups of sugar
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    2 teaspoon baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 box of raisins (of a 15 oz. box) - a little over 1 cup
    2 eggs
    2 cups of buttermilk

Mix the dry ingredients together.  Then wire whisk the eggs and buttermilk together and add to the dry ingredients. Mix with a wooden spoon.  Stir in raisens. Put in a greased, floured frying pan.  Sprinkle flour on the top and cut a cross in the middle.  Bake at 325 for 1 hour.

**I just made it and it was a little undercooked at an hour but I had it in too small of a pan... It's not really traditional, almost like a giant scone.

Mine is for a bread maker. I'm a 21st-century Irish girl, I guess.
