The cake I designed (mom hates it)

What do you guys think? My theme is black/ivory with pumpkins and roses. This cake here inspired my design...

The estimate from our cake decorator was $300 for a 4-tiered cake that serves 188, until we had a consultation and I showed her my design. I obviously knew it was going to go up, and now the estimate is $500-$650

The problem? My mom originally offered to pay for the cake, but she HATES my design! "Why do you want the tiers crooked? Why don't you just want a normal cake?" I dont know? I hate normal. It's just not me. So before I tell my mom the new quote, I'm asking all of you guys if you think it's neat. My moms old fashioned when it comes to anything and has never seen a topsy turvy cake before or anything like this, so I understand her reaction. and am totally prepared to just pay for it myself now if i decide to get it

I love it though, and might just be stubborn because i designed it so i think it looks cool when in reality it looks like the dumbest cake ever.

opinions please??

I love it. I am in the same boat as you. I hate traditional. I think is is fun and something people will actually remember. I don't even know what my sister's wedding cake looked like and she got married in May...because she went traditional.

well my mom just told me if i want it i have to pay for it myself. which i was expecting, but it sucks bc if she loved the cake she'd pay for it no matter how much it cost (not literally, but u kno what i mean) and in that case it would prob look like something straight out of the 80's. prob have ferns on it lol

The cake is incredible. The only thing I'd leave off is the topper you have next to it. The bride dragging the groom is really old and takes away from the cake itself.

I hate traditional cakes, so I think this one is fabulous! Nobody will remember a big white monster of a cake, but they'll sure remember this - in a good way. But as a PP said, lose the bride/groom topper.

If you can save for it and pay for it yourself, go for it. It would definetly be a cake that I would remember for quite some time! Love it!

I was 100% traditional with a huge white wedding cake and I love that cake. I think it's adorable.

I LOVE that cake. Your guests will not forrget it and neither will you. I'm sure youll appreciate getting something YOU want instead of your mom. You don't want to look back and regret anything from that day!
