who walks down aisle?

I am having a small wedding party, a Matron of Honor and Best Man, but I want to play Marry Me by Train for the processional so I was wondering if I could send some of the family members down while it was playing. I was thinking,  FI parents, my Grandma (Dad's mom) my Aunt who will represent my Mom and then my Step Mom, then finally my MOH. Or should I just start the song playing early and then send MOH down halfway through and just let the song play until it is over?

Re: who walks down aisle?

  • I think, (but don't take this as proper etiquette), that in your case it should go your grandma, FI's parents, your step mom and then your aunt.  Of course after that is MOH and you.

  • We're having FI's parents and grandpa and my mom walk down the aisle during the prelude music, right before the processional. So I don't see why you couldn't do it during the processional.

  • We're doing the processional this way:

    Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring:
    FI's g`ma
    My G`ma
    FI's parents

    Trumpet Voluntary:
    BMs
    Ring bearer

    Canon in D:
    Me, escorted by my mom

  • How long our your songs and will you play the full song even if they get down the aisle before it is over?

You could always do a fade out if someone is doing your music.

  • Those songs that I mentioned are pretty short.  My cousins are playing violin and they have a friend who plays cello, so they're going work out a spot to cut the song off (I don't know anything about music, but my cousin said that those songs have a lot of repeats in them, so it's easy to pick a spot to cut it off or make it longer if we had to).  Hopefully, with practice,  there will be a smooth transition between the different songs....I'm sure that we're going to be working that out during the rehearsal.
