Bridal shower guest list

Are you supposed to invite people even from out of town with the expectation that they won't come? Or just locals?

We invited everyone from out of town even though we knew they wouldn't come. It's just a respect thing :)

Yup, from my understanding, thats the proper etiquette. Just out of courtesy.

I'm having a small bridal shower so I'm not inviting everyone from the wedding, including all the out of towners. Only out of towners invited are FI's mom and sisters. But that's just the way I wanted to do it. :)

I was invited to all the bridal showers of all the recent weddings I've been to, and they've all been out of state. I couldn't attend any, and those inviting me were aware, but they wanted me to know if there was any way I COULD, that they'd love for me to be there.

I'm not sure how the planners will work it for me...my MOH is planning to fly in (from California) and host a bridal shower for me here. My second BM and my mother may be planning something when I am home for Christmas in my hometown (PA) and FI offhandedly mentioned his mom had thought of it as well. I really don't know how it will all go down, but that is up to them I suppose...!
