Wedding Reception Venues in Central MA / Worcester Area

Does anyone have any ideas / opinions on places to have a wedding reception in the Worcester Area? Has anyone gone to / had a wedding at Old Sturbridge Village? If so, how was it? Thanks so much for your help!!! I really need some ideas! Laughing

Hi... we had my daughter's wedding reception at the Beechwood Hotel in Worcester this past June.  It was beautiful.  The food was amazing and the ballroom beautiful.  We had issues witht the construction that was being done on the outside.  It ended up being a non factor as she got married on the only Saturday that it rained in June so no one really noticed the construction as they were hurrying to get inside.  But, they compensated with giving us a few extras here and there to make up for it.  Also, their coordinator resigned 12 days before her wedding so we had to "bond" with her fill in... but everything went off w/o a hitch.  I would recommend it.  Good luck!

If you are looking at Sturbridge, the Publick House is beautiful and has fantastic prices for weddings.  I attended a wedding there, and was blown away at what you got for the price.

Also, the Chocksett Inn in Sterling is about 15 minutes from Worcester and beautiful.  Their package also includes a lot for a great price.  And the food there is excellent.

Also if you are looking at Sturbridge, Zukas Hilltop Barn is in Spencer (next town over) and is gorgeous.

I wanted to get married at Sturbridge Village, but after crunching some numbers, I found The Publick House to be more affordable.  I'm getting married there next year.  The plus side is that your guests can stay over if they choose to have a few cocktails. ;-)  I'm not saying the OSV is over-priced, but in this economy every little bit helps! Zukas is also gorgeous from what I hear.  I will be a BM in a wedding there next year.

Oh and don't even bother with the Central MA board.  All you'll get are crickets over there.  For some reason no one from Central MA gets married.  Hahaha.  You're best bet is sticking to this board.  Wink

I just went to the Beachwood for a wedding last night and all I will say is that the new coordinator rolled her eyes at the bride behind her back and forgot to tell the chef about their Lobster Bisque that was on the menu, so they never got it.

Zukas is beautiful and I have been to a few weddings there.  Depending on your budget though, I believe they charge $4,000 just to rent the place...could be wrong though.

I got married at the Spencer Country Inn.  They were very affordable, they do not charge a fee to rent the hall and you can make it as elaborate as you want.  Here is a slideshow of my wedding that has some pics of the hall:) Good luck!!! I miss wedding planning!!

We just got married at Zukas on the 5th and we couldn't have been happier with the venue. Not only is the place gorgeous, but Alyson the coordinator was so attentive and took care of us completely.  All of our guests had the best time.  I 100% recommend them.  We looked at so many of the places in Central MA, including the Publick House, OSV, Beechwood Hotel, Sturbridge Host, and Zukas was actually the last place we looked at and right when we walked in I knew it was the right place.  The price was very comparable, if not cheaper than the other places mentioned.
