  I took the traditional route to get my degree, but since I now work in higher education I definitely have an opinion about online degrees.  The most important thing to consider when researching your college options is to make sure it's an accredited program.  More importantly, look for a regionaly accredited program.  I think this will add more credibility to the degree.  Also make sure you are prepared to take online classes.  It takes a lot of discipline!   Also to answer the getting a job question, I think that may vary depending on the employer.

  I personally have an online MBA.
  
  When I was looking for where to get my degree, I made sure that the school was a brick and morter school that offered MBAs online. At the time, I traveled extensively with my job, so going to school physically would have been problematic.
  
  I researched schools for 3 months before settling on a school.
  
  The recession has made getting a job using your degree difficult. I did get a job, however, it wasn't within the ideal industry that I got my degree in.

  Online degree from an accredited school – great!
  Online degree from a “diploma mill” – bad choice!
  
  The point I am trying to make here is that as far as you earn your degree from a reputable, accredited school, you should be fine. After all, in this day and age, will an employer really care more how you earned your degree or whether you have the skills for the job? Whoever thinks that all online degree programs are a scam has probably not bothered to keep pace with time!
