Is anyone else having this problem?

So we sent our STDs out and have received calls about how excited everyone is, etc. etc. so then I ask, you visit our website yet? And the answer has been no every single time. Ummm hello people, I didn't spend all my time on it for nothing! I don't want to get a million calls asking for information that is clearly on our website. So frustrating!

Re: Is anyone else having this problem?

  • Nobody's called me, FI, FI's parents or my parents for more info as far as I know. Have gotten a few calls from people saying they were excited to get our STDs. According to the tracker on WeddingWire, our site's gotten 70 hits (we're having around 100 guests). Nobody's left messages in the guestbook though lol!

Planning Bio-Added FOR SALE page, will be adding more stuff to it soon!
  • We didn't do a website because, honestly, I rarely look at people's website and have never found any information on the website that I needed that wasn't already on the invite.  Invites always have the address, date, and time- that's all I need to attend a wedding!

  • I think some people have found the website and others haven't. Probably cause we squeezed it into the side and the font is size 2.
We're going to try to do online RSVPs so hopefully more people will see it then.

<div>I've never attended a wedding that is near where I live because I don't have any family near me.  Basically they were all DW for me- it's still the same concept.  You're including accomadation info in your invites, right?  That's the only other thing you need to know.  </div>

No because I have room blocks at 3 different hotels (where we are staying, where the ceremony is and where the reception is) to give people a choice. No big deal, just thought it was more funny than anything that nobody bothered to look at the site but I know they are going to be asking us questions :)
  • Yes. I have somewhat experienced this. What it comes down to is that no matter what, your wedding is more important to you than anyone else. People receive the STD in the mail, maybe stick it on the fridge, then they forget about it. You will likely get more traffic the closer to the wedding when you send the invites out. I'm having a DW too, so I understand your concern, but don't sweat it. Why do you have 3 room blocks? How many people do you expect to come? Did you negotiate any free goodies for you and your groom with the hotels you have blocked? I'm a hotel sales coordinator and usually the more people you bring the hotel, the more you get from said hotel. Example...I have 98 guests coming from out of town and blocked rooms at one hotel. I negotiated 2 nights for my parents free and two nights for my bmaids free because I'm bringing the hotel so much business. Sidenote: Are you interested in sharing your website? I'd like to see! I know some have concerns with privacy, but I'm not really worried that someone will show up at my Arkansas DW. My website is hunterandchristine.com.

Actually we set up 2 but the chapel we're getting married at is in a hotel so they set one up as well. We wanted to give people a choice because the price points are different. We got great discounts, which will help since (like everywhere) prices will be triple the amount for memorial weekend. I know flights are going to be crazy :(

  • I did a website for my first wedding and no one looked at it. They ended up calling me or my mom for information if they needed it. It was a colossal waste of time. (and I had a lot of OOT guests at my wedding).

So do not be surprised if people do not look at it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
