  • What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

[QUOTE]I have to admit that I think it's odd you are having it on 4th of july but aren't using those traditional colors. It just seems to naturally tie in. Be careful also that many people might have family or other plans scheduled for that holiday.

I don't find it odd at all, personally. My friend is getting married on July 4th and her colors are Purple and Green. She's not having a patriotic-themed wedding. They just liked the night since fireworks will be going off anyway they can see from the venue/they got a good rate for Thursday night.

The fact that others might be busy, I agree, but that's a risk you have doing your wedding on any holiday, so nothing really to do there at this point :)

  • July 4th is a terrible day for a wedding. I think you will have a lot of no-shows. I hope that you won't, but I think you will so you should be prepared for that.

  • Fair warning - a lot of people will not come.  Very few will change their traditional plans for someone else's wedding.  Why not just have it on July 6?  You could still to the Fourth of July theme.

  • What type of things do you need help with? Decor? Centerpieces? If you can be more specific I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions.
  • I'm getting married July 5. I'd treat it like any other summer wedding. We are using various shades of pinks, purples, and peaches in our flowers and decor. We aren't having anything outside, but there is a deck that people can go out on if they'd like. Using patriotic colors didn't even occur to me as I didn't want to do a theme at all.
  • Like PP, my wedding is July 5, and I'm not doing anything patriotic-- that's just not us.  My colors are peacock blue, royal purple and light green.  My "theme" is sort of vintage library; we'll incorporate books into our centerpieces, using card catalog cards as escort cards, etc,  We picked the day because it was cheaper to have our wedding on a Friday and gave people who wanted to make the effort to travel an extra long weekend to be able to do so.  You should do what makes you happy on your wedding day, not worry about what other connotations the day might have.
