    1. What events out of the year do you look forward to the most?
The shelter I volunteer at has a dog walk-a-thon fundraiser/event for dogs and people called the Whisker Walk. I also go to Relay for Life where FMIL's friends lead a team.
    2. When/how did you find out what you wanted to be when you grew up?
I have always loved kids. In second grade, I decided I wanted to become a teacher. I bounced back and forth with a couple other ideas as I grew older, but teaching was always there. I started interning and volunteering in classrooms when I was a high school sophomore, and that's when I knew for sure.
    3. Describe your dream home.
By a quiet lake with a big grassy fenced in backyard. Two stories with lots of windows.. a large modern kitchen and living area. And I would love a landing at the top of my staircase to be large enough for a window seat/sitting area overlooking my lake!
    4. What is your favorite hobby? FIs?
    Hiking, swimming, traveling, and reading
    5. How many of you are freezing right now?! :)
I'm sitting here thinking about how if I was home I would be in my PJs on my own laptop curled under a blanket. It always seems cold in FMIL's house, but with the cold weather, now it's even worse.

    1. What events out of the year do you look forward to the most?
Holidays- Thanksgiving... non-holiday things- school vacay when I do nothing but relax and sleep in!

    2. When/how did you find out what you wanted to be when you grew up?
I've always loved history but for a long time I was torn b/w going to law school, working at a Jewish non-profit or at a history museum. One day I decided that I didn't want to be an atty and that museum work wasn't the most realistic. I also had the hardest time ever breaking into the non-profit world. So I decided to get my masters and become a history teacher!

I would still like to do non-profit work though, just not sure when.
    3. Describe your dream home.
Something old, or looks old. Nothing builder grade... hardwood floors, stained glass decorative windows, beautiful wood built-ins, 2 floors, and very craftsman style.

    4. What is your favorite hobby? FIs?
Reading, playing on line, and figure skating (I used to compete). Fi is a sports freak and loves to play basketball. He's also a huge car guy (does interior lighting on the side) and a drummer.

    5. How many of you are freezing right now?! :)
I am, I am. Our place is always cold though. Usually I'm in sweats and surrounded by throw blankets.

    1. What events out of the year do you look forward to the most? I love St Patricks Day stuff, the town I'm from goes crazy over it and it's so much fun. Also, FIs grandparents rent a house up in NH every September and all the aunts/uncles/cousins go and it's a blast.
    2. When/how did you find out what you wanted to be when you gre w up? Well...I'm still trying to figure that one out. I wanted to be a dentist until I was a teenager, then a geneticist, then a nurse, and now I do cardio research...apparently I like the health care field.
    3. Describe your dream home. probably FILs, only with more bathrooms. They have a beautiful kitchen they just re-did. It's a colonial 4 bedroom 2.5 baths, a 3 seasons room and 2 fireplaces.
    4. What is your favorite hobby? FIs? I love to exercise and cook. FI loves to watch sports (is that a hobby?). We both love to travel.
    5. How many of you are freezing right now?! :)I'm wrapped up in blankets!

    1. What events out of the year do you look forward to the most?

Every summer my parents have a giant pool party with friends and family, they call it Summer Splash, and someone from the legion bring s keg of clam chowder, my dad keeps the margaritas flowing, and there's horshoes, fishing, and hanging out in the pool. They hire a band to come play and it's awesome.

I also love July 4 because it's H's birthday and we get seafood, cake and fireworks!

    2. When/how did you find out what you wanted to be when you grew up?

I've kind of known forever but didn't have the courage /confidence until now to do it. I have always always always been inspired by my grandfathers.

    3. Describe your dream home.

My dream home is actually my in-laws home, right by the harbor in Scituate. It's warm and inviting, an open kitchen and living area, a wrap around porch, and an inlaw apartment over the garage that I would convert to a home office/studio for H and I with a play room for the kiddos while we're working.

    4. What is your favorite hobby? FIs?

I really love fishing, I grew up in a fishing family, and my dad owned a fishing store from the time I was a baby till I left for college. I find it so relaxing.

H loves playing video games and he's a huge movie buff.

    5. How many of you are freezing right now?

Yeah, I'm pretty cold. :P Time to go get my hoodie.

    1. What events out of the year do you look forward to the most?  The summer bash that's usually held at my parents house.  At least once a year all my friends from high school, some of my friends from here in ma all venture out and have a tent party.  The rule is you must pitch the tent before you start to drink.  Then there are claims, burgers, dogs, booze, swimming, horseshoes.  YOU NAME IT WE GOT IT!  everyone always makes time for it and its' always a blast.

    2. When/how did you find out what you wanted to be when you grew up? I found out about a year ago.  I went to school for journalism and photography.  I now work with children diagnosed on the autism spectrum.   I love my job, I'm making it my career and it's fun everyday.
    3. Describe your dream home.  Requirements....3-4 bds, a MASTER bd w/ bath.  A BASEMENT (aka my man cave) a yard, enough room for a pool.  And a kitchen fi and I can cook in together.
    4. What is your favorite hobby? FIs?  Can school count as a hobby cause its what I spend my free time doing.  LOL  seriously though, photography.  FI video games...yes I mean that.
    5. How many of you are freezing right now?! :)Thankfully no, it's quite wonderful in my apt where the laundry room and crazy women below us keep us at a solid 73 all year around....I've never turned my heat on, and there is always at least 1 fan going in the bedroom. :)

    1. What events out of the year do you look forward to the most? 4th of July, we have a boat and taking it out on the 4th to hang out with friends to watch fireworks is the best (plus, we got engaged on the 4th on the boat!).  I'm also pretty obsessed with the whole month of December...crazy Christmas person :)
    2. When/how did you find out what you wanted to be when you grew up? I'm 29 and STILL trying to figure that out...I sure didn't picture myself doing project management for an insurance company, but it pays the bills.  Ultimately I've always wanted to be a teacher and I should go back to school for it.
    3. Describe your dream home.  LOVE THIS!  Huge old colonial with updated chef's kitchen (with double wall ovens) fireplaced living room, dining room and master bedroom, crazy master bath with jacuzzi/sep shower, walk in closets everywhere, at least 4 bedrooms, wrap around porch, huge fenced in yard and in some cute NE town by the ocean, like Marblehead. Throw in an IG pool too why not. lol
    4. What is your favorite hobby? FIs? Anything that being outdoors with Bear, our lab/golden mix., hiking/boating/beach...also movies, out to dinner and OH TJ Maxx ;)
    5. How many of you are freezing right now?!  Yes Cold, what is this? at least it will be a warm gorgeous weekend!

    1. What events out of the year do you look forward to the most? My wedding, honeymoon, bridal shower and bachelorette party. in that order :)
    - I am also thrilled for my first christmas married.. no real reason why tho. we already live together!

    2. When/how did you find out what you wanted to be when you grew up?
I always wanted to be a prosecutor... but I also wanted to rebel against my parents so I decided to go into journalism. I ended up loving it and they loved it.. and I spent three years as a tv news producer. Then I finally returned to my original dreams and now I am in law school. However- I do not want to be a prosecutor.. I just want to be a good attorney that has a life. Still figuring out the logistics.. I am mostly interested in intellectual property work.

    3. Describe your dream home.
It would have to be a historical home. I prefer federal or colonial style. Brick front, at least 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with a master bath. I realize that to get this in a historical home, the home will have had to had major updates and restoration. I would want any restoration to be true to the period. The home must also have a fireplace and a library, along with a large kitchen and some land. I would prefer something on the northshore, near the water.

    4. What is your favorite hobby? FIs?
My favorite hobby is to read or to write. I am a bookworm. I adore spending time with my old friends in my favorite books. FH, to my chagrin, enjoys gaming and being a nerd in general.Together we love nice restaurants and nice wine :)

    5. How many of you are freezing right now?! :)
I just turned our heat back on! its almost MAY! WTF.

I'm so happy to hear about the knottie's FIs who are "gamers".(I refuse to really use that word haha)  As a teacher, or just as me, I can't stand video games!! It drives me crazy. He tells me that when we have a house he will be busy so he will hardly ever play a game... I guess there are worse flaws ;-)

    1. What events out of the year do you look forward to the most? I love the holiday season--this year FI and I made a calendar for December and filled it all up with fun winter activities, we do Hanukkah and Christmas and try to focus more on "doing" things rather then gifts.
    2. When/how did you find out what you wanted to be when you grew up? I went on alternative spring break and volunteered in a autism classroom--thats when I knew I wanted to work with kids with Autism--however I have now had a strong hankering to be a SAHM for about 6 months, so thats prob what I'll do once we have kids.
    3. Describe your dream home-my Mom's home, she recently renovated a 1800s farm house in Lexington.  Everything was meticulously restored and it is opened up and has an amazing master suite with a whole hall of closet space and a brand new gourmet kitchen.  I would need to transplant that to Chicago though...haha
    4. What is your favorite hobby? FIs? I love doing crafts, and cooking/baking.  FI loves watching sports, fantasy leagues, video games and golf.
    5. How many of you are freezing right now?! :) Surprisingly not--though I was all day, I think it should be illegal to make me work in a basement (a gorgeous finished basement) for five hours with the thermostat at approx. 65.

    2. When/how did you find out what you wanted to be when you grew up? I was a culinary arts major in High school and a realized I loved the Hospitality industry. Once in college I realized I wanted to work the events side of the industry. I love planning, I'm very detail oriented and I love throwing parties so thats what I thought I should do. I loved planning weddings and events but since being laid off I realized how much I missed over the years and I love having a life and being able to attend family/friend events so now I'm seriously torn about what to do for work now.

    3. Describe your dream home. 5 Bedrooms, Large sprawling house with at least 2 1/2 baths, a large family/playroom, beautiful kitchen ( I love to cook!) large fences in yard with an inground pool. All hardwood floors with a lot of windows. I think I need a custom built home lol.

    4. What is your favorite hobby? FIs? My Fav hobbies are cooking/baking, photography and party planning. FI loves fantasy sports, softball, basketball and computer stuff.

    5. How many of you are freezing right now? It is a little chilly!

Thanksgiving and my and FI's birthdays

    2. When/how did you find out what you wanted to be when you grew up?
well I have always wanted to be a singer but that dream died thanks to American Idol. I have always wanted to be a teacher too but someone talked me out of it in college so now I'm probably going to go back to school for it.

Something big! I have lived in a condo my whole life so it needs to have two floors.
    4. What is your favorite hobby?
I like to sing. I also read, and love hanging out with my nephews and nieces, playing board games even though I am the biggest sore loser you can imagine.

    FIs?
He is also a singer (even if it's metal and you cant understand a word of it), he likes to shoot his gun whenever he can.

    5. How many of you are freezing right now?! :)
It's beautiful out today! I know I am a day late and yesterday was freezing!

Love adopted: I will do your survey at lunch. I just wanted to say I used to volunteer there also, (sterling) for four years, I just stopped in the last year due to being crazy busy but am making two baskets for the raffle. The past three years I've done the Whisker Walk also, volunteering in the auction booth ( I can't this year do to my boudoir photos being taken on that day though<img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-surprised.gif" border="0" alt="Surprised" title="Surprised" />) It's a great shelter! I miss it there!! I talk to Melissa every once in a while still.

    1. What events out of the year do you look forward to the most?
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, but it's harder now that there are 4 sets of parents! I also love the girls weekend that we have (almost) every year...with my mom, aunt, cousins and great aunt. It's so nice to spend time with family!

    2. When/how did you find out what you wanted to be when you grew up?
I'm almost 31 and I'm still trying to figure that out! I've been in the non-profit world for a while and really enjoy it, but I'm not sure that it's my true calling. Honestly, I can't wait to be a wife and mommy.

    3. Describe your dream home.
I would love something that is a bit modern with an open floor plan. At least 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. A fireplace, a gourmet kitchen, a porch in the front and a deck in the back. Big backyard. Basement for the Fi's man town. Luxurious master bath with a huge tub, and double sinks. Walk in closet. I could go on and on!

    4. What is your favorite hobby? FIs?
I love to read, although I don't do it enough, ride my bike, take walks with the pooch. FI loves to play poker, watch sports, ride his bike.

    5. How many of you are freezing right now?! :)
Not now, but yesterday was freezing!

    1. What events out of the year do you look forward to the most? Thankgiving, although this year I was planning on making the turkey, now that is fine but after Jeff and I tried those crazy turkey legs in Disney we both cannot stomach turkey on the bone for probably a long time (bleh!!) oh and obviously our wedding <:
    2. When/how did you find out what you wanted to be when you grew up? I still don't know hahaha I like my job (I've been in Healthcare/non-profit for over 3 years) but hate the commute. Really, I would just like to be a stay at home mom with a sorta part time job on the side. When I was little I wanted to be a soap opera actress ( my mom and dad seriously watch One Life to Live and think I am this girl Natalie), then for a while a dermatologist.
    3. Describe your dream home.  I am lucky to live in my dream home minus the inground pool.  Also, a home on the beach up in Maine (alittle cottage) with flower boxes on the front, tons of gorgeous flowers in the yard, and white picket fence, rough antique looking floors, and a walk to the beach would be awesome too!!

    4. What is your favorite hobby? FIs? um my favorite hobby no lie is shopping, I know I should be more athletic, but seriously you get exercise walking through the mall Smile  Jeff is obsessed with video games especially WOW, basically I can only take so much so I go shopping when he is into that which is fine with me! Together we enjoy hanging out with our dog, watching Ghost Hunters and Jeopardy (dorks haha), and hanging with family and friends
    5. How many of you are freezing right now?! :) not now but about an hour ago thanks to the ac at work

Love, H has always been into them and honestly, I don't mind, I love playing the old school games like Mario and Sonic (the easy stuff). A lot of his buddies play, and the way I see it, there are worse things in the world he could be into.

Also, it may sound silly, but he's had hand tremors since he was a kid, and playing the games kind of gives him a sense of control over his hands with the controllers. They normally shake, but when he plays, they're steady.

We actually went to a big gaming convention in the city a few weeks ago, it's become a lot more mainstream in our culture. It's definitely great to meet fellow gamers :)

snoangel- I'm sure we've met before! I've worked the Whisker Walk both years that it's been held, and have volunteered there for about 2 1/2 years now.

Shazzie- it's been kinda nice to hear that my FI is not the only 'gamer' (still not gonna say it! :)  ) I think it's hard for me to be surrounded by older women (at my office) and teachers/older women at school. I am trying

Oh no, he's not the only one, and it's nothing to be embarrassed about, it's just another hobby like loving sports, hunting, reading.

I find that everyone has something in their life that they totally geek out over. It's all good.
