register for a frozen margarita maker?

First, let me say, I do not drink alcohol of any kind. FI doesn't either.  Why then, do I want to register for a frozen margarita maker? Frozen strawberry lemonade!!  I love it  - it's almost my favorite thing in the world - however, I don't get them that often (at least not good ones). My mom and I were talking today, and I remembered these frozen margarita makers I saw in Target once. I bet they would make perfect frozen treats.

My only problem - would people see the margarita maker on my register and automatically assume I wanted to make margarita with it? Should I just wait until after the wedding and use some of the money (if I get any) to buy my own?  I don't want people to think we're drinking, or be a stumbling block to them.

Unfortunately I'm not one to weigh in as FI and I do drink socially in moderation. We'll have a drink once a week or so with dinner or when friends are over. So we have registered for wine glasses, wine stoppers, and a wine rack. I think, though, that we are warned to avoid even the "appearance" of evil. So if not drinking is something you and your FI feel very strongly about then I wouldn't register for it. People are people and they will think what they may and if you would rather than not making inferences about you, however incorrect they may be, then don't give them room to. I've seen those in stores as well and I don't think they're that expensive. You should just buy it yourself.

I don't drink, and FI doesn't anymore until I'm ready to.  If you don't want them thinking that then I'd avoid it.  I can understand not wanting them to think that.  Can you tell a family member or sibling that you want it and not register?  That way you can explain it to them and you don't have the misunderstanding.

I do not drink alcohol at all and i feel very convicted about it...my FI will have a beer every now then. Everyone pretty much knows my view on alcohol.

.if people know your convictions and your standards..i do not see a problem with it. Since you won't be using it for alcohol.  but if there are people who may not know completely...or non-christians (who are desperate to see a difference between them and the followers of Christ)...maybe its best to buy it yourself just so you staying firm on your convictions and dont want to lead anyone astray. (they might think.."well she SAYS she doesnt drink alcohol but now she registers for a margarita mixer...thats a lie!")

    you know?

so i think it all depends on the ppl you're inviting.

If this is a "I wonder what people will think" type thing, I say don't worry about it. You know what you're going to use it for and if people are going to be THAT worried about it, they can ask you. And then you can let them know exactly what you intend to use it for. :)

I'd register for it! However, FI and I do drink socially once and a while. Probably once every few weeks or so we'll have a drink and sometimes a glass of wine with dinner when we're together.

If you really want it I would register for it! If people are uncomfortable with it they don't have to buy it.

However, I would just invest in a really nicer blender if it were me. Just my two cents. : )

I did register for a nice blender from Wolfgang puck from HSN, but it doesn't make slushies.

If you want it, register for it.  Why do you care about what other people think?  It's not their place to pass judgment on you, even if you were registering for sex toys.  If they're not comfortable with it, they won't buy it.

Go for it!  I have this hamilton beach blender that we use for frozen drinks like that (non-alcoholic) and it does a pretty good job although ice can be hard on blenders.  FI owns the "bullet" system he received as a gift years ago and we anticipate using that for our frozen drinks more than the actual blender.  I also have a mini food processor I've used for smaller amounts of frozen drinks.

I think you should go for it. I think that people will assume you like the occasional cocktail or mocktail. The people coming to your shower know your character and choices, I'm sure!

<div>I care because if they're young(new) christians, and they think I'l drinking, they'll think it's okay for them to drink too - and I believe it is absolutely NOT okay to drink alcohol.  I don't want someone to sin due to a misperception they have of me. </div>

I would say buy it for yourself or ask a close family member. If you have a strong view of that it is best not to put yourself or others in that position.

I say go for it. Honestly, even if you were going to be using it to make frozen margaritas in your own home, what's the big deal? I grew up in a strong Christian home and was never ever taught that alcohol is evil, but to only have it in moderation. It's talked about in the Bible, and when it's mentioned it just says not to become foolish. There is nothing wrong with enjoying a glass of wine or a frosty margarita. DH and I love margaritas and we thought about registering for one of those Margaritaville blenders, but didn't because they are so expensive and didn't want a guest to drop several hundred dollars on one item when there were plenty of other things we needed.

You know what you'll be using it for, and if you feel that strongly against alcohol, you know you won't be using it for that. And like pp's mentioned, you shouldn't be worrying about what other people think, you're an adult who's of age and I'm sure no one is going to side eye you wanting a drink maker that can be used for a range of different beverages. I think you're overthinking it and if you really want one then go for it and register for it! :0)

How does a blender not make slushies? Put in strawberries, lemonade and ice and turn the blender on.

Anyway, I think you should register for it. If you really feel weird about it say something like "OOOOOO! Now I can make frozen strawberry lemonade!" when you open it.
