Would you please help? Seriously conflicted!

My bridesmaids don't live close by, so I ended up dress shopping alone, and with the help of a great consultant, found the dress in the top picture, and bought it. This pic shows the sample (which is too big and would be ordered smaller) and the actual flower and veil I will be wearing.......Well, there was a fire, and my dress was destroyed. There is a chance it can be reordered in time, I am waiting to find out, however, in the meantime, my future SIL's came in on Saturday and went dress shopping with me. We found the dress in the second picture, which was too small for me to actually try on, but they LOVED. The picture shows me just holding it up to myself. We also got to try on a sample dress of my original, at the temporary location of my original salon, which they unfortunately said they really didn't like. I was surprised, because I thought it looked so nice, but am not always the best judge of what looks good on me. Well, the second dress is twice the price of my original, and since I can't actually try it on, I would be taking a chance on ordering it, but they think it would be perfect. I don't want to "settle" and now find myself seriously conflicted on what to do, so I thought to ask you girls what you think. Will you help me out by offering your opinion? Which dress do you like better? The top one? Or the bottom?

Thanks so much in advance for your help

What dress do YOU love? I think they are both very pretty. You said you're original one might not be ready in time for your wedding if you re-order it, but if you purchase a new one, will that one be ready in time?

  • It really comes down to what do YOU like?

I can offer my opinion but your opinion and your budget are the only two things you should really be considering.

I will say it looks like the waist is more flattering on the second one, the first dress seems like it has an awkward transition point at the bodice/skirt. The second one looks like it would define your waist better and cinch it in.

It is very difficult to tell from these small pics!!  But they are both incredibly beautiful - so just be proud you have all around good taste!!!!

Personally, I like them both for different reasons.  The first one seems very formal - very ball gown like with what appears to have a cool train and some neat detailing on the bottom.

The second one seems like it's much more summery- very lacey and flowy - quite pretty and extremely flattering.

I agree that it comes down to your feelings - and I'm talking about the one in your heart - not your head, your stomache etc...your heart.  There has to be one that you are a little more set on - and I would just picture each important moment of the big day and go with what your heart is telling you.  Danceable? Aisle worthy?  Can ya sit in it? etc...

Budget has a say - but hopefully any bridal shoppe that has a fire and therefore screwed your plans this much will offer you an extensive deal....and if they are not ...I'd be stern about your feelings on that!!

    GOOD LUCK!

These are great questions to consider first before getting our opinions.
Also, can they rush order a new one or let you buy the sample of the one you love more?
