Input please re: DIY centrepieces

I've officially decided to forgo the florals and rentals for centrepieces and just do them myself. I can save myself over $1000 this way and then I can even sell off a lot of the candle holders/vases.
I'm using my frames (the ones I made for the pews at the ceremony) as menu holders as well. These:

Then I'll have a few little candle holders (4 per table) that I'll "bling" up to reflect more light and add a candle floating on water. Our dinning room has a pool of water above that reflects light so I want to play that up.
I found these at IKEA which are perfect for holding my feather table numbers:

I'd like to add some pearly garland around the neck for some extra pow.
Like this:

Our tables only seat 8 so they are small and I don't want to clutter the table. I think it will a simple yet elegant centrepiece along with the menu frame. Any thoughts? Should I get a mirror to sit underneath or would that be too much? Or maybe mini mirror for the candles? Ideas??

  • I think that would look great. Not sure if the mirror would be too much, maybe pick one up cheap and try first? I know I got all my mirrors at Dollarama :)
  • Looks good, you should totally buy what you think you might like and then put it all together, Im a total visual person so I like to see it all together. If you are trying to play up lights, why not try some of those LED throwies in the bottom of the vases with the feather

  • That's a good idea jezpez - I do want more light.

Thanks for the tip about the dollar store Britt!

  • They have really nice ones, with bevelled edges, and little feet under the mirror to sit on the table and all for $2, that's what we're using!
  • I picked up some small and one bigger mirror at the dollar store at lunch :)
If I choose not to do that, I can use it for our memorial candles; the ones for all our loved ones who can't be there physically to share the day with us :(

I also found some great little paintable easels that hold the perfect sized canvas for info/notes for our different tables. Love that store!

  • To me it sounds like a lot going on, vases, pearls, candles, bling, feathers, frames. Maybe I just need to see it?

</div><div>I need to see it too :P</div><div>Everything is small and has minimal additions; it's all white as well so it's not a big clash of colours. Hopefully I can put something together this weekend to give myself a better idea. I think the mirrors are too much at this point but we'll see.</div>
