I cant pick a location!!!!

I live in Chicago, but from Sri Lanka, so all my family is coming from Sri Lanka. FI grew up in Hershey so we are getting married either in or around hershey. I want to get married sept 1 (its my parents anniversary) but it seems to be a really popular date and we are late in booking a venue.
I looked at a few places when we visited for thanksgiving. Loved Moonstone manor (they have no saturdays in 2012) loved cameron Inn, (also no saturdays).
FI likes the colonial golf and tennis club - i am not that hot on it. But they have my date avaialbale.

After we got back to Chicago I researched more places. Love the look of Felicita, and the Inn at Leola Village. Liberty forge looks interesting. (they all have my date) But I dont know if i am comfortable picking a wedding venue just by looking at a website.  And i cant go back to hershey again until Jan the earliest.

I am afraid if i wait, I will miss out on Colonial golf club as well.. But i am not 100% happy with it.

What should I do?

If you have a healthy budget, check out The Hotel Hershey. I'm getting married in my parents' yard in Hershey, but we are staying the The Hotel Hershey. It is so gorgeous!

Did you check out the Hershey Lodge or the Hershey Country Club? I'm getting married at the Lodge in June and the Country Club has a gorgeous pavilion and ballroom

What about Harmony Hall in Harrisburg (technically Middletown)?  It's really close to Hershey, just down 283 and there are a lot of hotels that are really close too.

Felicita and the Inn at Leola Village are GORGOUS!  I think I might have done Leola Village if I hadn't booked the Cork Factory.

Have you tried the Riverdale Manor in Lancaster?  The tend to book fast but there might be a chance that they have something.
It's a beautiful place and the price is pretty good for the views and food that you get.

Also try the Eden Resort in Lancaster they are a hotel so they might not be as booked. They have a really nice reception room that is beautiful with high ceilings, a fountain, and cascading lights.

Good luck with your search! Read reviews on theknot.com and weddingwire.com if you have to pick your venue soley online. They help a lot!

How many guests are you having?? I looked at the Inn at Leola Village and it just didnt seem very large...but it was very nice.  I liked that you could have your cocktail hour separate from your reception room there and there was a nice room for the bridal party to be in at cocktail hour also.  Im not sure how far from Hershey you are willing to go but the Abe Lincoln in Reading is also very nice and not to expensive.  I loved the Cork Factory but they were also to small for my number of guests 200-250 simply because of the lay out.  They have three rooms/areas and I would have had to seat guests in all the areas to be able to fit everyone and have a nice sized dance floor and that was just something I did not want...personal preference.

Also the Marriott at Times Square is gorgeous and very inexpensive...they are actually willing to work with brides and adjusts everything to meet a certain price point or certain wants.  The cocktail hour area is soooo neat  and has nice views and the reception room has lovely high ceilings.

    Hope that helps a little!
I've loved you since I was 8 years old...

thanks for all the input. this is all super helpful.

Riverdale Manor is fabulous - but completely booked for next year. Hershey Hotel, Hershey Country Club and The Hershey Lodge are all out of my price range.

The Inn at Leola has a sunday package that fits my budget but the FI is insisting on a Saturday wedding.... I guess I should have lead with the fact that I have 120-150 guests and want to keep it to $100 per person all inclusive.

FI and I are having our reception at the Conestoga Country Club in Lancaster. The venue is only $300 to rent or FREE if you know a member. The grounds are beautiful and the ballroom where the reception will take place is large and beautiful with big tall windows overlooking the golf course, chandeliers and a big dance floor. They include linens, centerpieces (if you choose to use theirs) etc. The food is very reasonably priced. Plates range from $16-$26 pp and that include hor d'ourves, plated meal and dessert. The food is AMAZING. Alcohol is very reasonable as well if you are planning on having alcohol. The woman (SUsan Mills) who is in charge of events was extremely accomadating and so helpful and friendly. Give them a call. I am very pleased with it so far
