NWR: Anxiety

So I've been dealing with escalating anxiety for a little while now. I know where it stems but I have no idea how to deal with it. I've pretty much decided I want to see a psychologist. Anyone have any recommendations? I have United Healthcare and once I'm married, I'll be switching over to Aetna so I guess that's the one that matters.

I would get on-line and try to find someone you like personally. I live by the Linder Center for Hope which deals with issues like that. I've called them because I have, sometimes, debilitating anxiety, and they were willing to admit me as a patient. The first question I was asked if I wanted to be on meds, so I had to make that decision. I don't have insurance so I haven't started going yet but I've called around. Good luck. It's a horrible thing to deal with and just know you aren't struggling alone.

Thanks ladies. It definitely is a horrible horrible condition. I don't want to take meds...but if it becomes my only option I will.

The nice thing about the center is that they give you both options and should you start talking and then want to take meds they can move you over

I took a peek at the website earlier. I'll probably give them a call after our honeymoon. I really hope the insurance can cover it!

If they don't, I think it was 190 to talk to a therap and 225 to talk to psych. I don't have insurance so I had to ask.

I would ditto the reference to Lindner. My FSIL has been there quite a few times for her mood/eating disorder. I personally have had Generalized Anxiety Disorder for 11 years..it is not fun at all! Best of luck to you and I hope you can get in to talk to someone.
