Good Friday / Easter weekend

Anyone doing anything special??

I have work today then clinical tonight, but Kevin and I are going to Easter vigil mass at 8pm Sturday instead of Sunday (b/c he has to work all day Sunday.  boo).  We'll probably do egg hunt (yeah, we're dorks) and breakfast before he goes in to work then do our Easter dinner Sunday night.

Funny story.... last year we accidentally celebrated Easter 2 week early (no excuse, just plain stupid) so by the time Easter came around we were so sick of ham we ended up going to Tully's for dinner.

I'm singing in a cantata for Good Friday tonight at 7. Two of my friends recruited me to sing. Then Sunday, we're going up to Chad's parents like we have done since we moved in together. His dad grills kabobs and his mom has Easter baskets for all 6 of us (3 kids and 3 SOs). I like going up there, but I miss having Easter with my family.

On an unrelated note, my cat's 'birthday' is today. It's the day we brought her home from the humane society. We've had her for 2 years.Smile

Haha thats too funny Monica! Totally something I would do.

Easter for me is stressful. I explained my day in the previous post, but we have like 5 families to visit and all of em get pissy if you chose their family to opt out of. So its constant running.

Plus 7 years ago, Easter was the last day I saw my Grandpa. He had cancer real bad and fought hard b/c he wanted to see his whole big mess of a family together in one place. Easter. He was baptized Mon morning then died Tues morning while I was on my way back to school. After that my dads family 100% fell apart. All his siblings started hating on each other, I have "family" thats refusing to come to my wedding b/c they dont wanna see other family. Its ridiculous.

Easter isnt so much a happy time for me.

Sorry, I didnt mean to totally drag that down!

Wow... thanks Debbie Downer.  j/k.... sorry it's more stressful than joyous for you, Bridgett.

Sometimes I am sad that both of our families live so far away, but sometimes (like when I read your post ) I consider it a blessing to be able to celebrate just the two of us.  I actually enjoy cooking and entertaining and wish we could have everyone over to our new place for the holidays, but they're definitely not trucking it up here... sheesh... we can barely get anyone to want to drive to the wedding as it is.  Oh well.  Ham dinner for two, please!!

rsfan- where are you singing??  That's really cool.... I remember you saying a few times about practicing for this.  Are you nervous?  Excited?  I would love to sing in our choir, but we never know what mass we can make it to, so I wouldn't be very reliable.  Good luck!!!  Let us know how it goes!!

Let's see... work tonight (grrrr), and then more work tomorrow night (grrrr again).  Then Sunday, Easter at Dad's.  Thank God my dad hates ham (so do I), that means we're having somthing else.

I was contemplating calling in tonight because I got bit by a dog on Tuesday BAD, as in blood all over, haven't really been able to use my hand all that well since.  He bit my right hand, I'm right-handed and it's very necessary to be able to use my hands because I'm a bartender.  I think I'm going to suck it up and go though because the swelling has gone down a lot, and because I didn't rip my hand out of his mouth, there are no gashes just dots where his teeth went in.  So, it actually feels worse than it looks.  I don't want my boss to be like, "what the hell did you call in for?" when he sees my hand tomorrow.

I am singing at the Christ United Methodist Church in Sherrill. I don't get really nervous about this, more so my community chorus concerts. I am excited, but also glad it will be done. I will definitely let you know when I get back.

Wow, everyone has such nice plans!

We are going to church on Sunday and then out to brunch.  I'm not sure whether we'll make a special meal for dinner or not.

Easter has never been a big family holiday for my family, but his extended family usually all gets together.  Since we moved up here, we're about 4 hours away from where the dinner is so we opted not to go.  I'm really happy about it because I didn't feel like traveling there, but I think FI is a little sad.

Hi Ladies, I didn't want to start a new thread, even though this one is dead. The Cantata went very well last night.  There were at least 70 people there to see it, which was impressive.  A bunch of people in the audience were moved by the music that they started tearing up. I even got chills! Overall, a good time.
