Update on Dilemma/CHECK!!!!!/Rant--Long

Soooo.....Here's the scoop just in case you care. Oh and thanks for all of the advice! It really helped!

Sooo...I ended up finding out that my venue booked my date anyway, so we did end up changing the date. After only taking bookings for 10 days, our venue was already booked for every single Saturday in July and August of 2011....so we ended up going with a Sunday. I am not too concerned about it and I am pretty sure that it will end up saving us some money from some other vendors (fingers crossed). Oh and the Sunday we changed it too is just the day after our original date so pretty cool.

Also, Brown's changed our date with absolutely no problem, which was a HUGE relief and we coordinated the date with photog as well!

CHECK!: WE BOOKED OUR VENUE!!!!

RANT: Sooo....lemme give you some background info. We met with our venue for the first time in March and I fell in love with it and couldn't imagine it anywhere else. We told her we wanted to book it and.......she dropped the ball that she wasn't yet booking for 2011. So we decided to wait it out until she was booking (which started 2 weeks ago). We go in today to book it.....and she drops the next HUGEST ball on us.........Prices went up! and not just a little bit.....IT TRIPLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Soooo....I am pretty irritated that she wouldn't take our money in March....and now tripled the price on us...but like I said, we couldn't imagine it anywhere else, so we went through with it. Only thing is that now I am super stressed about it because we were on a STRICT budget with the old price in play....sooo i don't really know what to do now. Guess I am just going to wait it out and see what happens.

Also, we are meeting with photog on the 20th to book!!! YAY!!! I can't friggen wait!!!!

Thanks for listening! :-)

Take it in stride.  Are you thinking of an afternoon wedding or evening?  I was originally planning a Sunday afternoon wedding and it was not bad price wise.  However when I moved to a Friday evening.....the budget went out the window.

Tripled? I would go ballistic. We had a Sunday wedding and I thought it was nice. Ceremony was at 11:30 and reception started at 1 (different locales). Our reception was over by 4 so my brother and his wife could easily get back to Portland for work the next day.

Yah.....Tripled....Went from super cheap that it was unbelievable for such a nice place ...to....damn, that's what it should cost. $2000-$6000.....so that's $4000 that I need to come up with or cut from somewhere else....which really doesnt work. Eek.

We are thinking of having the Ceremony at 3pm and have party over at 9pm. I am thinking that 9 is a good time for everyone to get home and get sleep before monday. Everything is at the same place, and we have it from 10am to 10pm.

I'm guessing you didn't sign a contract back then?

    That really blows. :(

No! She wouldn't! We told her we were ready to set up a meeting to book her and that's when she told us that she decided that she was going to wait to take booking for 2011. We totally got screwed. But I am just pretending like it didn't happen because the more I think about it the more I get unhappy.

yeah she probably knew that prices were going to go up and so didn't want to sign in march...im sorry, that sux. it seems the closer we are getting to weddings, prices are way higher than originally priced for one reason or another.

Oh girl, I know what you're talking about! She did the same thing to us. I'm glad we booked a different venue, I would have gone monkey-poo had we pushed off booking for that place. It is beautiful, but that just seems so fishy!

On a sidenote, I think your timeline is fine :o) We're having a Sunday wedding and that's about what ours is.

Just my personal opinion...I would not pay $6,000 for just the venue rental. No way. Not when some places don't even charge for room rental, and not when most have a going rate of $2,000 and less. Remember that you're going to have to feed and "water" people, too!

Yah,  it's the place in Olalla.

Becca- I was thinking about you when we were booking. I was like, it's a good thing they decided not to wait it out....We just really didn't find anywhere else that we liked just as much and we love it. I am sure everything will work out somehow or another.
