nail salon in Oahu

Does anyone know of a good nail salon on the North Shore of Oahu?  Or someone who will travel to your hotel?  Our wedding is at Turtle Bay resort and we're trying to organize manicures and pedicures for myself and 3 bridesmaids on the morning of the wedding, butthe spa at the resort can only accommodate one person at a time.

Re: nail salon in Oahu

  • I went to Solar Spa at Ala Moana shopping center in Waikiki a day prior to the wedding. I do suggest making an appointment. I thought having my nails done would be a breeze in terms of finding places but it turned out to be a bit of a challenge. Most of the surrounding spas only had a nail technician on site on certain days and their appointments fill up quickly. Just a heads up. HTH
  • What's your timeline like?  I generally think mani/pedi on the morning of the wedding is not ideal, I'd worry about smudging stuff while getting dressed, etc.

I used North Shore Salon & Spa in Haleiwa. http://www.northshoresalonspa.com/default.html I went for mani only, with 2 others, the day before the wedding.  They use Zoya and OPI.  I called the day before so had to work around their availibility of staff. It's a smaller salon, so we did have to rotate services a little, could not all have our manis at the same time.  They are really nice, and have a parking lot.  I considered driving into Honolulu for a salon but am glad we only went to Haleiwa, it was still a 30 min drive to get there.

  • I had just emailed North Shore Salon this morning! Glad to hear that you had a good experience with them.

Our wedding ceremony is at 4pm, and our make-up/hair people come at around 12:15pm, so I figured we could do mani/pedi in the morning.  I was worried that if I got them done the day before, they'd be chipped by the next day.  But that's a good point about the smudging too...

If you get the shellac mani you won't have any chipping for two weeks at least, and it makes your nails hard like acrylics. Nail polish on my toes lasts forever so I don't think you'll need to worry about chipping the day before.

  • Shellac or other brand of gel polish is the only way I would go for a mani on the day of.  With regular nail polish I've just had too many experiences of ruining a manicure sometimes even several hours after it's done so I like to give it plenty of time to dry and set.

Also I wanted to do the least possible on wedding day.  We started hair & makeup at 11am and even with that had a few other things that morning to take care of and coordinate.

  • Thanks everyone!  I'm going to take your advice and go the day before, and maybe try out the shellac too!  sp2012 you're right, I don't think I want to be rushing around that morning.  I painted my own nails last night and they're already chipped :(
