What is "affordable" to you? You could look at David's Bridal (even though that's pretty much cookie-cutter) or you could look at Alfred Angelo. I think AA is pretty cookie-cutter also but the other stores I've been to have been somewhat pricey, but then again it all depends on what you consider affordable.

Wendy's on Sawmill is decent. Before you try anything on, have a definite budget set and stick to it do not let commissioned sales women change your mind. Try on dresses from top designers so you know what good gowns feel like, then go find a similar one at david's bridal or online from oncewed.com or recycledbride.com, preownedweddingdresses.com. Also, you can do consignment. The Bendora Wedding Gallery has a consignment shop. You may find some vintage dresses too. You can usually get good deals from pre owned dresses. New are touch and go unless you go to David's most of the time.

I bought my dress at Alan Ray Bridal. They had some very unique dresses. I also liked Elegant Bride in Dublin.

As of right now, Im hoping to spend less then $1000 on a dress but I havent gone shopping yet, so who knows if thats possible.  I saw one dress I liked online at Davids Bridal and then immediatly saw it in about everyother wedding album so im trying to avoid places like that.

I shopped at Trumpington and Alan Ray and tried on dresses ranging from $600 to just over $1000 at both so I say it's definitely possible to find a dress in your budget.  You could also consider Bridal and Formal in Cincinnati which I hear tends to run a bit cheaper.

    Check at lightinthebox.com
Their prices are amazing, the reviews are glowing, and they custom make their dresses.

might I also add, don't forget about hte extras.... I too had a budget of 1000 when I went dress shopping.... I was like yes I can do this my parents (who set the budget and are paying) were thinking 1000 for Everything.... (veil, bra, slip, alterations)  just make sure you consider those things as well.

although I guess it depends if your 1000 is just your dress or your dress and accessories...
