Meal planning?

I don't know what day you guys normally figure out your meals for the next week, but I'm hoping for some yummy ideas.

So far I have cobb salad, something with tilapia, and white chili.

What are you planning?

Re: Meal planning?

  • Here is my gameplan in no particular order:

    *Quick cheese and broccoli soup

    *Crockpot white bean cassoulet

    *Crockpot minestrone soup

    *At home Qdoba naked burritos.
Grilled steak, black beans, tomatoes, cheese, guac and sour cream on cilantro lime rice

    *Broccoli and cheese stuffed tilapia
  • Last night I just attempted a Cajun chicken... it was basically a whole chicken roasted with some butter and a cajun spice rub.  It came out pretty good.

As for the rest of the week, who knows.  Meal planning is not my strong suit.
  • I made thin cut pork chops tonight for dinner with white rice and green onions.

This weekend I'm making tacos with all the fixings, then spaghetti.

Monday I'm roasting marinated drumsticks with baby red potatoes and either sauteed spinach or roasted brussel sprouts.
  • I'll sit next to DotDash at Jordan's.
I have never planned out a week's worth of meals.
Sounds very Stepford Wifey to me.

  • I usually plan a couple of days at a time, and usually when I'm at the grocery store. Seeing what's on sale is a help. I try not to shop for a whole week at a time either, just to make sure the stuff I'm using is fresh (really tough up here).

I'd like to get an indoor grill and a slow cooker at some point this year. -40 is too damn cold to bbq outside!

Anna, I LOVE cheese and broccoli soup!

  • Tacos are always an easy mid week meal.  Black beans on the side with garlic, jalepenos and tomato.

<div>Hardly a Stepford wife thing.  Meal planning allows for more efficient grocery shopping that certainly is helpful when being careful about money spent.  It also makes for lower stress cooking since I plan my meals based on how much time i have on a particular night.  </div>

No I havent, I didnt have time for prep this week. I have been doing prep at night so I can throw them in the CP before I go to work. With the flour drudge I didnt want to do that the night before so I'm waiting for a day I'm home.

  • I don't have my plan done yet, because we get our new freezer this week, and I need to stock it this weekend.  So I'm sifting through my pins and bookmarks and cookbooks looking for things to prep and freeze to make my life easier in the future.

<div>That's sort of what I'm hoping to do by starting. By having a plan ahead of time, I'm more likely to choose healthier, less expensive options. And already knowing what I'm making saves me the time deciding what to cook on the day of when I'm already exhausted after work. I've only done it for one week so far, but already I feel more efficient and less stressed.</div>

Jenny, I somehow ended up with two crockpots over the last two years. You can just come take one if you want, haha.

I try to meal plan, but I'm not good at it and I'm broke, so I tend to buy a few staples and try to overlap. I bought six ears of fresh corn and two bushels of asparagus on Wednesday along with some chicken breast and ground turkey. I'll make something of it. I always have a smattering of frozen veggies to pick from too. I usually only plan one meal that requires lengthy preparation per week. Oh, and I bought shrimp, a huge splurge. I want grilled shrimp kabobs this week.

Also, someone save me a seat at Jordans?
