Oh mother.

My wedding is 7 months away and my mom just sent me an email asking if I know what kind of candles I want because she found a bunch of tea lights on sale on Amazon.....

I'm glad she's excited but I don't even know how to respond to this email lol

Re: Oh mother.

  • I'd get them. You can always find a use for tea-lights.  Or at least I could :)

  • My recent experience with tea lights: I just bought some from Michael's (with a 50% off coupon).  I was really happy about the great price...  That night we did a trial run at home and they went out in less than 4 hours!  Our reception will be 5 hours so we'll keep looking for some with a longer burn time.
I actually have some with 6+ hours of burn time in my Amazon wish list right now. Smile I've found a lot of great, inexpensive items on Amazon: overlays, Bride and Groom chair sashes, cake cutting set, submersible vase lights.

  • Aww at least she is trying to be helpful?! All my mom is concerned about help with is asking me daily to find her mother-of-the-bride dress or look at pictures of ones she finds. Oy Vey! As if I don't have anything else to do...

  • Ditto PPs - she's excited, and you can't have too many tea lights.

    My mom???

She didn't congratulate us when I told her we were getting married, and is now complaining because she wants to wear a pant suit (I told her go ahead, if she's comfortable that's great), but she won't wear one because she thinks that FI's mother will talk about her (FMIL is so not like that, but mom is super paranoid).

That's what she sent me. I'm sure we will end up getting some, but I'm still trying to get all the vendors nailed down! I have a rough idea of decor but no idea what will actually happen. But like others have said, you can never have too many tea lights!

  • My mom is the exact same way, and I'm pretty resigned to a similar fate when I have kids. We just can't help ourselves :p

I had almost the exact same moment the other day. My future MIL text messaged a picture of a vase she saw somewhere that was clear crackle glass with grapes painted on it. She wanted to know if we wanted her to go back and get them for our centerpieces. We are having out wedding at a winery, but 1. it's not for over a year and 2. those vases justa ren't what Iw as imagining our centerpieces to look like (: I admire the enthusiasm and excitment, but sometimes I'm just at a loss for words!
