How much time are you giving for hair & make-up??

I don't think an hour and a half is enough for hair and make-up??  Or is it?

Re: How much time are you giving for hair & make-up??

  • I am having about 3 1/2 hrs reserved for me and my girls.

  • I'm budgeting an hour each for hair, and my MUA said makeup per person will only take about a half hour.

I am factoring about one hour per girl (30 min for make-up and 30 minutes for hair). We have 2 make up people and 2 hair people. This way, 4 people can be worked on at once. We'll have 8 people getting ready including myself, so we'll need around 2 hours. To be safe, I factored in 3 hours.

  • LM - For just you that should be enough.  For everyone definetly not.  I was told to plan 45 min for each person getting their hair done.  My make up trial took 45 min as well and we're tweeking some things day of so it'll defintely take that long again.  The girls are doing their own make up so I have no idea how long that would take or if they'll help each other or what.

  • For me and my girls we did 3 1/2 hours.  That is 8 of us including myself and my mom.

  • I am counting on 90 mins for hair; 60 mins for make-up, just for myself. I may need less, but if I finish early, I'll just head back to the hotel sooner - no biggie.

My girls will have different stylists with me, so they will overlap, and be done faster. They all decided to do DIY make-up, so I think they are budgeted for 45 mins each just for hair.

  • 3 hours total - 1 hr for my hair, 1 hr for my makeup, and 30 min for each girl for hair and 30 min for each girl for makeup, they are budgeting 3.5 hours for me, 5 bridesmaids, two moms, and two junior bridesmaids.

    ditto this.

  • My hair took an hour and half by itself at my trial.  I imagine it will take longer on the wedding day.  30 minutes for my makeup.  I just have my future step daughter getting her hair and makeup done too.

We are starting at noon for a 4pm ceremony.  :)   I figure we'll have an hour to 45 minutes before the ceremony for pictures or last minute issues....
  • Our MUAs gave me the following schedule (12 people getting makeup, 2 MUAs):

    Time allotted for each: 0:45
    Time prep:
    0:20
    # of people:
    12

    Ready by:
    1:00 PM

    Prep:8:10 AM-8:30 AM
    #1 & 2  8:30 AM-9:15 AM
    #3 & 4  9:15 AM-10:00 AM
    #5 & 6  10:00 AM-10:45 AM
    #7 & 8  10:45 AM-11:30 AM
    #9 & 10  11:30 AM-12:15 PM
    #11 & 12  12:15 PM-1:00 PM

Haven't heard from my hair lady, but there are 9 people (including me) getting styled 'dos, and 2 blowouts -- so, 11 people total. We have my hair lady and 2 assistants.

My hair trial took 2 hours - she's slow as molasses (and I'm mad at her right now anyway for not getting back to me with a timeline -- I emailed her 2 weeks ago because she still hasn't even given me details about who she plans on bringing as assistants).

We're not doing make up, just hair. My stylist said to plan an hour for me and 1/2 hour each girl. We did my hair the other day, and with all our pausing to chat about non-hair stuff and to also talk about what was going on with my hair, it took exactly an hour, so I know on the wedidng day, it will be less. She also said she usually can get a BM done for less, but to budge 30 minutes per gil  anyway.

We have to be ready to go at 10:45, so I am saying all done at 10:30, which means we will get started at 7am-6 girls total.

  • bridetobe, it sounds like hair and makeup for your wedding will be quite the process! haha I like how you have a very defined schedule for everything. That's a lot of heads to make pretty!

I know. I really wish I hadn't said that I'd cover whatever anyone wanted. It's such a huge pain in the a*s. I am going to have brunch at the suite and give them their presents then, so hopefully people won't get bored. Many of them are staying at a different hotel so they probably will just hang out that morning.

  • I have 8 women total, including me.

My hairdresser is giving 30 minutes time per BM/mom and an hour for me... between 2 stylists she said they'll be working from 10:30-1:00.  My MUA will be onsite from 10:00-1:00 and they'll rotate the girls.

The party bus is arriving at 2:15, so I have wiggle room in case we run over.

My hair trial took about 40 minutes and that included lots of chat breaks so I think I'll be OK time-wise.

  • My salon has reserved all of the girls for my WP (plus moms), so multiple girls will be getting hair done at the same time. So far, we have 9 people getting hair done- one FG is still unknown. However, mine is going to take FOREVER since she has to put in extensions too. I'm doing make up first, and have an hour allotted for it, but it only took around 30 mins at my trial. Hair starts at 10am and pictures are at 3...so hopefully that is plenty of time to get everyone done, to the venue, and dressed! (In short, we don't have an exact amount of time for hair/make up lol)

  • I'm in the same boat as most of you: 1 hr for my hair 30-40 min for my make-up. 30min for each girl's hair, they're DIYing make-up.

  • It's going to take over 3 hours on my hair alone, so I have to allow at least for for the hair and make-up for everyone - especially since I'm doing my MOH's. We're DIY-ing the make-up and each other's hair, though, so we're a bit slower to make sure we don't mess up.
Though even if I went to a pro my hair would still take that long :) It is unbelievably stubborn, I tell ya.
I say, budget whatever you know you will need, and then a bit more. Just in case ;)
