Stationary? Invites? Save the Dates?

Any suggestions on  save the dates , invites and programs? I've done a ton of research on everything else but that!  Our venue supplies us with menus and for the table seating we are doing a seating chart but no assigned seats. Like people will be assigned a table but can sit anywhere at that table.
I'm just not sure if it would be cost affective to order the save the dates/wedding invitations or to do them myself. What are your suggestions? We have approx 150 people and not really a huge budget for paper stuff.

I'm making all of our stationery. Every last bit. I finished our STD's completely today, and I just need to address the envelopes, stuff and send. Next will be the invites as soon as we have the ceremony location nailed down. (it's one of two places, we're just debating right now.) I'll be making all of the place cards too. (we're just doing the table, sit wherever too.) I decided DIY was for me b/c I wasn't a huge fan of any specific invites... and I'm very particular about what I want them to look like. This way is saving us $300.00 plus. (we're having 80 people at the wedding and reception, and 250+ at the afterparty)

STD card... I suggest Vistaprint.com  We used the site for our STD cards and paid $20 for 100. We really paid for a rush order, otherwise it would have just cost s&h..about $3.50.  It takes about 30 days for regular processing, so if you have the time use them.  Most of the stuff is free or very low cost.  Quality is great!  FYI- our STD cards came with white envelopes but we simply sent them as postcards to save postage.

I designed our invites and had them cut and printed at a local print shop.  I am doing the programs myself as well.

Rhoyal- For future reference if you use VistaPrint again, do the slow 27 day shipping. I have ordered from this company about 10 different times and each time I choose 27 days shipping and at max, it arrived in 10 days! Don't spend the extra money for shippping unless you need it immediately.

Bonnie & Cllyd- I designed my 125 save the date magnets on Vistaprint and printed them out. I also ordered 200 postcards to attach the magnets too... (free envelopes) for $59.... and that was BEFORE I knew how much cheaper I could of got them. Since then I have ordered Save the Date Magnets/Postcards for two friends, one I got 125 magnets/postcards for $41... another friend $39. Will you need 150 save the date magnets or you have 150 guests invited... ? We had 230 invited and only needed 109 magnets.

As for invitations, I ordered my invitation kits from Target, they were $149.82 for 125 invites, then if you look in my bio (I just finished my invites last night) I DIYed them with postage it was under $3.00 an invite OR without postage under $2.00.

Programs- I have not done these yet but I plan on printing them at home as well...

Hope this helps... email me if you have any questions, lilvalval26 at yahoo dot com

</div><div>Thank you so much for the info! I do have a question, where did you get the magnets? I will only need about 125 since a majority of our guests are close family members.

If you are having 150 people, you should need waaay less than 125 magnets.

Couples in the same household get one magnet.  Also, families that live at the same address get one magnet (different from invitation ettiquette; one magnet per household, one invite per couple/person over 18).  That right there should drop it way down; ie, my cousins live at home (in college), so 3 invites were sent to the same address, but the family only got 1 magnet for the STDs.

HappyWithHim said she got her magnets thru VistaPrint.  I HIGHLY suggest signing up for their emails- that's where the deals are going to be, in the emails.  Also, don't go thru the very first email they send- many times they send ones that have offers of 75% off, when the next emails will have offers of free.  Finally, WATCH OUT for the pages at the end of your order.  When you place orders, they go thru these "offers" you can sign up for; be careful and make sure that every box is unchecked, otherwise you will end up signing up for $15/month offers that you didn't mean to.

In terms of invitations, I got mine at Apropos in Greenville, DE.  For 100 invites, lined inner envelopes, printed outer envelopes, printed RSVP cards, and printed RSVP envelopes, we spent under $500.  Now, don't write them off, especially if you don't want the hassle of DIY.  You tell them your budget, they will work within it to make everything work for you.  Plus, they off 20% off the list price, as well as any promotions the manufacturer is offering.  Their customer service was awesome.  Highly recommend.

As for programs, I can't help you there- my church is printing them for free, since we are having a church service with ceremony (meaning hymns and all, so everything is in the program so guests can follow along).  but most people I know design simple programs themselves in Word or Publisher and print them themselves or have them printed at someplace like Staples.
