Oahu Restaurant Reception - Recommendations?

Hi Everyone!
I'm brand new to this, but it seems like everyone is full of great advice and recommendations!
We are getting married in June 2012 on Oahu. We're having a simple beach wedding (Waimanalo Bay) with only 20 guests max. And I'm totally stuck on a reception venue!! I really want something super casual and stress free...like a restaurant where we could just show up and not have to worry about details. I'd really like to have it near/on the beach if possible, but I guess it's not a deal breaker! I've heard lots about Tiki's but would love to hear about other recommendations if you have some.
Money is not a huge issue since we won't be spending it all on decorations/rentals but good food is a must!
Thanks ladies!

I'm having my rehearsal dinner at tiki's in a month so I can tell you if it's worthy of a dinner reception. So far it's been really stress free working with them, they're really good at emailing back and sent additional photos of the reserved outdoor lanai we're eating on. I originally fell in love with the idea of getting married on the beach in Waimanalo...plans changed though. It looks beautiful there though! I've heard heliewa joe's is good! I think I looked into a few other places: lulu's, hula grill and buca di beppo (it's a chain though, we don't have it around my area though, so it was new to me). You can search yelp for reviews too?

    Hi,

Congratulations. I am in the same boat. I am planning my wedding from abroad and hoping to get married at Diamond Head Beach Park. Like yourself, money is quite an issue.

I have looked at Tiki's grill and they are brilliant emailing me back and forward. Only down side they didn't have much range of vegetarian food as my bridesmaid is a veggie. Every Friday they have firework display and you can book a table on the 21st floor of the hotel - however minimum orders have to be over $800 plus tax and gratuite is not included. You can bring your own wedding cake, only charging $1 per person and can set up the table for you if you got any wedding favours.

Another place I look on is Hula Grill, but I am struggling to get an email address!!!!

I need to look into more place, but my wedding planner suggest couple place (i'm okay but struggle find veggie food for my bridesmaid lol) such as Dukes, ocean house, sarentos or Hau Tree Lana.

    Hope that helps

Another nice place to check out is Haleiwa Joe's in Kaneohe - it's about 15 min from here and the view/scenery is gorgeous

I was going to suggest Haleiwa Joes as well! That is where we had our rehersal dinner and we eat there on a regular basis. The views and food are phenominal!

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm getting married on January 5, 2012 on Waimanalo beach. I've been googling and calling restaurants for the past week for a group of 25 people. We'd also like a restaurant near the water. The most promising one that I have found so far is LaMer or Orchids in the Halekulani hotel - they have their large party menu and their wedding dinner menus available online. If I come across anything else I'll let you know!

Have you found a good place for hair and make-up? And who are you using for your photographer? We're also in search of an officiant who is a native Hawaiin, and this is also proving to be difficult!
