Makeup - how did you find "inspiration"?

I have my makeup trial this weekend and Nancy at BrideFace has asked me to come with ideas and pictures.  I've done that for hair and flowers, but how the heck did you all pick makeup inspiration?  I think I'm oblivious to makeup.  Are there sites that you all used?

I just looked at pictures of red carpet events and picked a couple that I liked. I'm pretty clueless to makeup too and just wnated to look like an enhanced version of myself.

Yeah, I was a bit stumped.  I looked at celebrities that have similar coloring to me and what makeup I liked on them.  I ended up with something different, but it was a place to start.

Celebrities is a great start.  I also googled makeup artist blogs and then saved the pictures I liked to show my makeup artist.

    Here are two I liked:

you can also take a look at their blogs and get inspirations- I found this was way more helpful than just looking at celebrities since most of them are touched up for magazine pics.

I feel like these people are professionals and should kind of be able to look at your skin, eyes, hair etc and do a look that would look good on your particular face. Obviously you have to give them a couple of descriptors of the look you are going for... (glamourous, sexy, romantic, natural, etc) but other than that, I would just let them work their magic!
