Masons

Let's talk Masons today.

I was always told that Catholics cant be Masons and that it has something to do with the oath taking, etc.

Several of my Catholic friends/relatives/aquaintances are Masons and see it purely as a service organization that does good things.  They cant understand why its wrong to be a Mason.

What are all your thoughts/research/observations?

Re: Masons

  • Catholics cannot be masons. They are a cult whose mission is hidden for all until you reach the top degrees, and even they don't know that the whole purpose is about.

    To be against the church.

They take oaths that curse their children down to the 4th generation. Each level curses different parts of the body.  I'm not making this up--- There is an official deliverance prayer (for the church) that is specifically written for each level of these curses.

There are a couple books out there by people that were masons that have converted that reveal what its about.
  • Probably more information than necessary... but New Advent does a pretty good job of analyzing Freemasonry in great depth:

  • i really thought it was pretty widely known you couldnt be catholic and mason.  even a simple google tells you that's the case.  what i dont understand is why so many do know this or dont want to know it?  i guess this is just another example of picking and choosing?

  • I vote for another example of poor catechesis.
