Pens???

Hi everyone,

I'm getting married 9-10-11 and have been stressing out about favors for a while.  I'm not a big DIY person, in fact, I'm actually very practical.  I was thinking of having a basket full of personalized pens next to the guest book so that each guest can take one.  (They're nice pens, not the cheap hotel kind).  My grandmother is making different kinds of cookies for the tables.  This, along with the place settings and centerpieces makes me not want to go with my original plan of putting a favor on each setting.  I think that might make the tabel "too busy".

Do you think this is ok? Or would you think it's tacky? Thanks for your imput

I don't think it is tacky. I might not realize it is the favor. As someone always looking for a pen in my purse I would take one but some people are very opposed to taking things with other people's names on them. So, you may have a lot left over.

A friend of mine did personalized pens... And ended up taking over half home because people didn't take them off the table. I actually think they were at the seats too, not just at the table by the guest book.  I personally wouldn't do something personalized... Not everyone wants to look at your name and date as much as you do. (no offense!). And think about the guys. None of my guy friends would want a pen personalized with mine and FI's name/date on it.

If you must go the personalized route, what about the the hersey bar idea, where you just put a little label on the front with your name and date? That way, they can pull off the personalized part and who doesn't love chocolate? I believe you can order them off of any wedding website, including the knot. I think edible favors are the most practical.

Oh another friend of mine did little bottles of alcohol, UV? The little tiny sizes. It was just enough for a drink for one. She did have little labels printed on them as well, but again, not something any guest had to look at forever.

Thank you girls! I hadn't even thought about the guys.  I've decided to do the pens and personalized chocolate.  Thanks!
