how in the world did people manage to raise children before the internet?

think about how many important questions went unanswered (how often do you put your kid in new pajamas? how often is it safe to use a humidifier? how many bedroom themes is too many?!)

ZOMG, CAN YOU IMAGINE THE HORROR OF HAVING CHARACTERS FROM 2 DIFFERENT DISNEY MOVIES IN THE SAME BEDROOM?!

reading those posts kind of makes me think of the good old days...

"kid was not eaten by a sabre-toothed tiger/ was not trampled by a woolly mammoth - it was a good day" days where living long enough to procreate and raise your child to "adulthood" was an accomplishment.

then again, if the internet would have been around back in the day, there probably still would be ridiculous questions:

"how many fingers can my child lose from leprosy before I need to call in the apothecary?"

HEE! I"m totally imagining Oregon Trail FB status updates. LOL!

I mean, seriously - the total lack of common sense makes me stabby. These women totally belong in binders.

I was on a message board for local moms for a time and it was the same sh!t. Pages and pages of the most inane questions, and often the same ones because so many of these people were too stupid to search.

The other highlight was that there were infinite number of women who were SAHMs, would post in the daily posts (things like "what's for dinner?") that they were shopping or eating out, then post in other places about scammy WAH jobs or how to get things for free, complain about not having money, and then talk about shopping. Just get a job or learn to budget fvckfaces. No wonder you're the hundreth person asking if it's okay to let your toddler play outside with a ball.

I have been reading them just to see what people do about their sleep issues because, as you know, i have a kid that will flat out refuse to sleep if allowed. but really, the questions and answers...i just find myself not even joining in because of how mean i end up sounding.

and really, does it matter how i transitioned from formula to milk? just experiement! it's your kid, you can do almost anything you want! (within reason. i am not a sicko.)

i think when the receptionist schedules it, you can expect a little business card with the date and time on it, so you could make a note on your calendar.

just a hunch, though. i never had to schedule an induction.

The woman had discussed the induction with the doc and the doc agreed they would wait another week. The receptionist must not have gotten the memo so instead the woman just booked the induction and never asked any questions. One of which should have been "My understanding is we are not scheduling that right now. Did something change?"

</div><div>I had to tell them over and over and over again that DB2's c-section would *not* be 11/17, because my very early (read: most reliable) ultrasounds showed conception one week later than my last period would have made it. (Not shocking, since I'd only had 2 postpartum periods before I got KU again.) </div><div>

It shouldn't amaze me that many women are incapable of doing this, but it really wasn't that hard, especially when I was all "I would *really* like to be super super sure my baby can breathe on his own when we do this, mmkay?"
